Thanks Jerry! The keyboard/track pad tray is arriving Monday. Going to use it as part of my TV set up. Ditched the cable box and streaming with my MBP. The tray is the perfect addition since I will be using it on my lap.

if you’ve got wrist problems check out the Logitech vertical mice. I’ve used those for years and haven’t had a wrist problem ever since!

I moved to that mouse from the mx master. It helped me as well, I just wish it had the same scroll wheel as the MX master

Honestly a slick and good looking desk setup. I could never have my laptop open in front of me and give up my low profile mechanical keyboard. The typing experience is just too good on a mech.

Hi Jerry, I also have a new m4 max with a caldigit. But my network doesn't run throught the ethernet cable. Do you have the same problem?

Like it prefers WiFi or the Ethernet port is not working? I find that even though I set Ethernet priority in the network settings, I need to uncheck my WiFi to automatically connect in WiFi settings. Been an issue with macOS for as long as I can remember.

@ what happens is that the lights of the dock don’t blink and that I need to manually ad it as a network service then still it’s red.

Will you do review of MacBook Pro 14" M4 Max ? I am wondering is M4 Max overkill for 14" MacBook Pro because of possible thermal issues (smaller case), shorter batery life (smaller battery in smaller case), and what about fan-noise (again, thermal issue of powerful CPU in smaller case) and at end - how hot keyboard gets when doing heavy tasks. Everyone review 16" M4 Max, but I am considering the same configuration you have.

Same here. I’m looking at the same configuration. Portability is most important to me but I also want the best chip possible. Only thing I’m on the fence about is nano texture or glossy screen.

Hi - do you recommend any 32 inch displays for mac. I currently have a 27 inch display and the new Mac M4 Mini, but want some more space when using FCP.

The problem with 32 inch displays is that they’re almost all 4K which means that the scaling issues are even worse compared to 27 inches. I believe Asus and BENQ will have a 6K display at 32 inches soon, and Dell has one now but it’s $2k. Although cheaper than Apple’s $5K XDR.

nice setup. one question, would that desk mat obstruc ventilation if used with powerful windows machines? it seems to me the texture can result in pieces of fabrics stuck on the bottom facing fans of the typical windows machine? have you noticed temps difference with andwithout the desk mat?

I have had no issues with shedding and yes I have done performance tests with and without and found no difference. I had the same thoughts.

New viewer here, nice setup and video. Quick question, do you think you would be able to run your daily workflow on an M4 Pro chip with your video editing etc? I’m not coming from a judgemental angle or anything, just seen a lot of coverage saying the M4 Pro is so good this time around that it is more than what most need and the max chip is only for extreme workflows. Just wondering if I can save some money! Keep up the good work!

So Jerry, you have to focus and tell us if Pro Display XDR is the only option or if other monitors are acceptable too

If you can afford it, the Studio Display is about the best you can get for regular Mac use. If you can't afford it of simply don't want to spend the money and want a 5K resolution, this Asus or the Viewfinity S9 are options. If you want a 32" 6K display, the XDR is more than even I am willing to pay but Dell has a 6k 32" display for about $2000. BENQ and Asus might have 6K options soon. If you want a good display that looks like Mac colors out of the box with a pretty good backlight and are ok with 4K, the BENQ MA270U is a good option.
