One of my earliest memories was in the 1950s of my mum playing 'Secret Love' on our record player - quite often! A lovely song performed by a brilliant singer, which brings back memories off those days. My parents died some years ago but listening to it here takes me back to happier times. Doris Day was naturally beautiful, multi-talented and classy - unlike a lot of Hollywood actresses today.

A wonderful tribute to a marvellous screen star and a precious lady. She gave so much to us all, and yet received more sadness than she deserved Her films were always joyous to watch. So glad that she championed animals in her later years. The sign of a warm and caring human being. RIP dear Doris....

I grew up watching and listening to Doris day . We were immigrants from Europe , when we came to Australia to live my parents couldnt speak any English at all , but for some odd reason they seemed to know what Doris day was singing . MY Mum was constantly singing the song Que sera sera , and as we kids were growing up in a brand new land , we would sometimes worry what the future would bring . My mothers response was always ...Que sera sera , whatever will be , will be , the future is not ours to see Que sera sera ". It made us feel better and boy did we all adore Doris Day for it , and for a whole host of other reasons too . Doris was a beautiful soul inside and out and so very very talented . Thank you Jerry Skinner .

My very first album at 7 years old was a Doris Day album. I just remember her smooth, velvety voice was so beautiful and even to a little kid...I was mesmerized. My uncle was a huge part of my love of music, and sharing his immense talent in playing the accordion it was the first instrument I was taught to play. I remember the day he took me to a record store and of all the records I chose was a Doris Day album. I could see the surprise and i believe a sense of pride by my choice. He also was instrumental in my love of Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin as well as the love of doo wop....all thanks to my Uncle Vernon!
@andrewmiller48853 ай бұрын
@@mason6963 Your uncle was a wise man. . Children really are defined by the kind of families they come from. I think when we become adults so much of who we are by then was seeded in our childhood and up bringing. I can fully understand your uncles pride in such an unusual choice at only 7 years of age. Your uncle had great taste in music as do you, and bravo for learning to play the piano accordion. I don't imagine musical instruments of any kind would be easy to learn. Thank you so much for sharing that little story with us. It was heartwarming. Take man and all the best to you.

On the first of May, what a great day to watch a special documentary upon Doris Marie-Anne Kappelhof, know to many as Doris Day. I must confess that I am a great fan of hers. This persona was not only a beautiful woman but a great female singer. Her love songs and the melody still goes under my skin and touches my heart. I enjoy every song of her because it is sang with so much passion and love. Yes love songs she sang with an upmost voice. She is the queen of the fifties. Her voice was a god gifted thing. Passing away last year at the age 97 years is not bad for someone who had lived so excessively. May she rest in peace. Thanks Jerry for the documentary.
