Why? The movie scene was FAKED !!! Nick never said such a thing. Nick and Tommy were friends. And worked together off and on through the years.They were both about the same age. (37 years old in 1965). At age 37. Nick didn't want tour with the band anymore. He wanted to do other things like painting pictures. Which he did. Nick did however came back in to the band 1973 and helped on a song (Hickory).Bob Gaudio was about 14 years younger. (in 1965) He was 23. A young song writer and producer. Bob went on to perform with the 4 Seasons until 1971. In 1971 Bob Gaudio was 29. Thats when he stopped performing with the band and went fulltime Writing and Producing the 4 seasons and other artists. Tommy DeVito left the band for good in 1970. Tommy was 42 years old in 1970. I hope this helps you understand.The scene was only for movie effect. In fact none of the Seasons were mad at each other when they left. They just moved on doing their own things. Nick painted after 1965. Tommy went to Vegas after 1970. And Bob continued writing and producing on his own right after 1971.

@@eugeneschulte4950 That's true for 1970 for Devito, but I found a RARE photo on google images in a early January of 1971 that Devito was on the last tour with the four seasons hence he had some facial hair that I have never seen him with before. This was before February of 1971 where he was replaced by someone else on the tour.

Tommy and Nick never TOURED together for 10 years. At the most. They toured together as the 4 Seasons for THREE years. 1962- 1965. That's IT !! Almost not even three years. Nick Massi left The 4 Seasons in 1965. Joe Long replaced Nick Massi in 1965. Joe toured with The 4 Seasons until 1975. Joe was there for 10 years. Not Nick. Tommy left The 4 Seasons in 1970.

The movie scene was made up bullshit to give am impression that the members were mad at each other. They weren't. They just moved on. If there ever was a member to be bitter. I would have been Joe Long. But Joe Long was never bitter. Even though Bob Gaudio moved Joe out in 1975. Who Loves You was the last Four Seasons track with Joe Long on bass. In NO interview did Joe Long ever attack any other Four Season. He considered himself as a paid employee.

This was not the reason why the Four Seasons split. From 1956 until 1958, the group stayed together, performing in clubs and lounges as "The Four Lovers" and recording on music labels under various names: Frankie Tyler, Frankie Valli, Frankie Valli and the Travelers, Frankie Valli and the Romans, the Village Voices, and the Topics are some of the 18 "stage names" used individually or collectively by the members of the band. Majewski left the band due to creative differences, while Nick DeVito left the group (portrayed in Jersey Boys as being due to an extended prison sentence, though Tommy DeVito stated in 2008 that he had fired the two because he had booked a gig opening up for Tony Bennett, believing it would be the group's big break, only for Majewski and Nick DeVito to refuse to travel to it, forcing him to cancel). To fill the gap, two members of the Hollywood Playboys, another touring group in North Jersey, joined Valli and Tommy DeVito: lead keyboardist Hugh Garrity and guitarist Nickie Massey. Massey left in 1959 to front his own short-lived group the Nite-Lites, replaced for a time by Charles Calello. When he tired of touring, Massi quit the band, but he continued his career in music. He worked as an arranger, vocal coach, and engineer in numerous New Jersey studios, with bands such as the Baby Toys, the Carmels, and the Victorians.

Nick came back to replace Charlie Calleo in about 59 or 60 when they were the four lovers. they became the 4 seasons about 1961. They didn't have a big hit to tour until 1962!!!!! Nick left the group mid 1965. that's only 3 years!!!!!!

I believe, Frankie Valli and the Four seasons were shaken down from the Mafia in a very big way. The movie portrait's that Gyp d was helping them out but this was a very big shake down by Gyp and Tommy Devitto. Frankie Valli and the other 2 band members, Bob and Nick took line hook and sinker. If this is true as the movie shows it, Tommy was very untrusting and traitor to the band especially to Frankie Valli who ok the paying back of the money. Unless this is all bulshit and they just had to pay the Mafia protection money for the time Gyp and Tommy helped out Frankie Valli in the very first shaken down in the scene of shooting inside the car.
