i think the first starter deck i got was that yugioh duel guide video package but that was a long time ago so it also could have been 1 of the first 4 starter decks for yugioh as well

First starter deck was meridian artifacts or seto kyba depending on which one released 1st. I had a gen 1 Blastoise deck with misty, but I don't think that was a starter. I also had the hao asakura vs x-law starter in shaman king and the og Digimon starter set in middle school.

My first starter deck was probably a Pokémon starter deck from the 90s. Nidoran was a big part of the deck, and my mom learned the game so I could play. I probably got a Yugioh starter deck when the game first came out. First deck I really remember was a Magic starter deck for M13. It was green deck splashing black and featured Yeva. A friend gifted it to me so he could teach me and another friend how to play.

I mixed the actual Ragna-line cards with D_Brigade Commandramon/Darkdramon and its a super slick deck

I thought tamer could only be played if you had a digimon that was same color. Im new sorry if I got it wrong.

Options of a specific color can only be played if you have a Digimon or tamer of that color out on the field. You can play other color tamers in your deck for their effects

I think I may have had the one of the weirdest card game experience of all because I have never once owned or played with a starter deck in any game, the closest I have ever come is a commander precon in MTG, but even then I changed the heck out of it before ever playing with it. And I played Yu-Gi-Oh as a child, too much MTG and now Digimon. To be fair I play Mastemon, but pretty much only use Gato, Maste and Chaos Degrade

Ragna is wonk with just one box. Hyper reliant on legend arms and only 2 durandalmon means you will probably not joggress. Did real well constructed play at my locals

I like these show case challenge duels you do, they bring an interesting quirk to the game that makes it worth watching on their own. Last time I watched Digimon was a year ago or so, I'm not so happy to see that the game still has, what I would call, a design flaw in terms of building wider and rookie rushing disproportionally being way better on account of how each security is hit by a Digimon each and you need a dedicated blocker to block attacks. But I guess its baked into the game.

I think there’s better ways to control the board when the opponent builds too wide. DeathXmon, for example, is one of the best cards in the game and can be played potentially for free if the opponent has a bunch of bodies on the board. Lately the Meta has been more about building tall stacks though decks like Jesmon will still throw a bunch of mons for free

@@chrizchanang You're right, they made "anti rookie-rush" mechanics on tall stack or high level Digimon as a way to combat swarm strategies that prove too efficient in this game. I'm just not a big fan of that kind of design, because it makes it so that you're forced to have that effect on boss monsters or bust, and it further makes the game polarising depending on if you get that effect out or not. It's the same kind of design as when they made some tamers make you start on 3 memory, it's polarising if you don't have or use a tamer like that.

Other people at my locals put the ESS stack sideways under the top evo so when you suspend your Digimon they are all stacked say the the left or right

Sadly even with only the base starter decks Jesmon is still leagues above RagnaLoardmon. Jesmon is simply too fast for an RNG reliant deck like Ragna to compete with it. Its a shame they didnt release RagnaLoardmon during BT8 alongside the other Dual Color decks because the power creep in BT10 is to the point where he wont see any non-casual play.
