@@Anonymous-xq5cs that’s a fair perspective. I personally feel like Walt was a bit worse. There’s a moral difference between breaking bad like walk does, and being sucked into the bad by having a misguided upbringing like Jesse had. On top of that, Jesse is young and can partially excuse his stupidity via lack of experience / wisdom. Walt is a grown man with a family. Just food for thought, though. What I find interesting is that the Cartel meth lab really shows how Jesse changed because originally he was cooking flavored meth in some improvised kitchen and then he transitions to a more capable kitchen with the RV and then Gus, and ends up going to the Cartel like Gordon Ramsey kinda showing how he's picked up the "perfectionism" of Walter

Before he leaves to go to Mexico he pleads for Walters help and Walter treats him like crap yelling at him and even saying he’ll “end up in a barrel”. Jesse acts exactly like Walter when he gets there. Being an over dramatic perfectionist even at one point saying to the lead chemist “I’m surprised he hasn’t fired your ass” aka being deleted from existence just like how Walter was to him. Sadly Walter treating him this way was the help he needed to know how to control the situation by doing his Heisenberg impression

Jesse always had heart and that’s one thing I loved most about his character. No matter what he went through, his heart was always open and filled with love and empathy for people. He was just a lonely dude. He cared so much and Walter I think sometimes saw that as weakness when in reality it’s the hardest thing to do. When life beats you down it’s super easy to become cold and guarded but Jesse not only remained himself but grew so much throughout the show as a person and that’s great writing/character development. I’m really happy we got to have El Camino as closure too.

The worst part to me is his parents kicking him out over a joint that wasn't his, when he seemed like he was legitimately going to fly the straight and narrow and try and rebuild his relationship with the family. After that the dominos just kept on tumbling.
@mechadoggy
@mechadoggy Жыл бұрын
Then why didn’t Jesse just say that the joint was actually Jake’s then? I get that Jesse wanted to protect his little bro from getting into trouble, but that was very unwise on Jesse’s part. That decision of Jesse’s doesn’t just get Jesse kicked out of the house. It also removes Jesse from Jake’s life so that Jesse can no longer be around to guard Jake from any future drug use. What’s to stop Jake from continuing down the path of drug use? If anything, this experience would just subconsciously teach Jake that he could get away with it. Plus, Jake’s parents would have zero indication that Jake is in danger of following that path such that Jake can easily and uninhibitedly go down this drug path without any notice that something’s wrong.
@WeenieHutJr69420

@@mechadoggy he did say it wasn't his and was still kicked out. Even if he'd fought harder they would've called him a bad influence on Jake and still kicked him out, they didn't want them in a room alone together but they're gonna let the youngest and smartest brother showing more promise, to follow in Jesse's footsteps? I don't think so. Even if Jesse was there for him and Jake went down that path, Jesse went down that path and his teachers, family, and peers all tried to get him off that path, you're assuming just because he stayed all would've been well with Jake. Watching his brother get kicked out for his own weed, then watching that same brother stomp that weed out right in front of him was as valuable a lesson Jesse could've taught him, not a word need be said.
@mechadoggy

@@WeenieHutJr69420 “he did say it wasn’t his” That’s not nearly specific enough. That’s the standard denial that any person caught with drugs in his car would say to the cops, “It isn’t mine.” Jesse should have named Jake to his parents. “Watching his brother get kicked out for his own weed” Oh yeah, some brother that Jake is for allowing his brother Jesse to get kicked out over something that was his fault Edit: why am I even arguing with a KZbin account that’s not even 1 year old?

@@trapd00rspider “Something about El Camino made it seem less black and white than that.” Yep, you could tell by how Jesse’s parents were desperately clutching onto the phone once they realized it’s the voice of their son who is indeed alive after all. Plus, even Jesse himself doesn’t blame them and says, “You did your best, and whatever happened, it’s on me. Okay? Nobody else.” (I cried so much when watching that heart-wrenching scene in El Camino.) “yeah not to mention watching Jane die” It was so much worse than that. Walt inadvertently caused Jane to roll over into a much more vulnerable position on her back. Walt’s willful refusal to then save Jane or even call 911 is like someone accidentally causing a house fire and then refusing to correct his mistake by either saving the person or even calling the fire department. Not only that, Walt then has the gall to comfort Jesse’s sadness in this, as if Walt didn’t have anything to do with causing Jane’s death, the source of all that grief for Jesse. It was so disgusting and sickening for me to watch Jesse being comforted by the very person who caused him all that grief to begin with. I couldn’t take seriously any friendly interaction between Walt and Jesse from then on. If Walt had never been there at Jesse’s place, Jane would still be alive, albeit cause a mess on Jesse’s neck, and she (as well as Jesse probably) would be forced by her dad into inpatient rehab the very next morning under pain of calling the cops over. If Jane had to die at all, I really wish we got see her last until season 5 where she can get killed by Uncle Jack’s gang, especially since she and Jesse seem to have so much more chemistry than Andrea who seemed like a really boring character with not much personality. (Plus, it would have fit better with Jesse’s blood-curdling screams of anguish in “Granite State”.) Or, if Jane had to die as early as season 2, then I really wish the writers would have stuck to Vince’s original plan of having Walt deliberately inject Jane with a lethal dose of heroin.

I feel like I watched a different show than everyone else in these comments. Walter cared about Jesse, but he cared more about himself. And the transformation isn’t scary, it’s just depressing. Jesse went THROUGH IT during the entire series. And anytime he’d get himself on track, he’d get thrown right off…and let’s not forget that a lot of this is ultimately Walter’s doing. Walter wasn’t doing any of this for his family, or for Jesse, it was for himself. And he even admitted to that. He liked the power, liked the control, and he liked cooking meth. It didn’t matter to him what it destroyed or who it hurt in the process. Love Walt and Bryan did a phenomenal job portraying that character, but don’t be fooled by the manipulation. And why he trusted Walter in all his manipulations, for my opinion it's because he felt abandoned for his whole life and he is not a loner, he clearly needs somebody by him, and Walter gave it to him. Also seeing Walter as father-figure, whose compliment you should gain, made him obey and more listen to Walter then himself. As for that he is smart, just remember that even Walter said that Jesse cooks better meth than him. Of course it's not only about being smart but still
