I’m with the majority, remove social media from your life and discover the happiness that action enacts. You are lucky to have an opportunity to be trained by Jeff. I have been trying to sign up with Athlean-x for a long time but spots aren’t available. Great job guys and perfect timing. I'm 53 and workout with my 16-year-old son, teaching him all the mistakes I've made along the way and what I have learned (mostly thanks to this channel). Although my son says he has no interest in steroids, he has friends that do. One of his friend's dad has even come to me asking for advice on how to handle the situation. I sent him this video and said, "Can't explain it any better than this." I sent it to both my boys as well as I'm concerned that my 16-year-old may see the gains his friends are making and feel he has to keep up. I'm so proud of where he has come in just the short nine months that we've been working out together. Your channel and videos like this only strengthen what I'm trying to teach him. I wish I had you guys when I was 16 and first starting out. Keep up the great work.

This is the first time I saw Jesse in about 3 years. I didn't know the comment they read was from him, but to be honest the first thing I thought was "he looks the same as three years ago." Not a bad thing of course, he looks good and a lot of men would be contented to have his body. But if his goal was to get bigger all this time, chances are he is doing something wrong. Perhaps he got stronger, more conditioned etc, and again he looks good already. But if we are talking about hypertrophy, it was never this channel's specialty. If you watch scientists and coaches specializing on getting bigger, and if you read researches on hypertrophy, you will see they radically differ from Jeff's approach towards almost everything: Exercise selection, execution, volume, nutrition, etc. It has nothing to do with steroids. It is obviously and absolutely possible for a young man to get bigger than 165 if he consistently and specifically trains to get bigger for over 5 years, even if he has bad genetics and started at 135 bodyweight.
@MrClaus.6 ай бұрын
People that criticize him are jealous because they had to take steroids to get beyond that point but they know they couldn't acheive what he did without steroids. So they invite him to join the steroids users and try to shame him to take that pride from him.

I watched a video about Jesse's progress about a year ago. Saw a comment to the effect of "Ha ha, I could put on that much muscle in two weeks", followed shortly by another comment that read, "Obviously you're on steroids". Two polar opposite conclusions drawn from the same information. The first person (likely on steroids) needed to elevate himself by diminishing Jesse's gains. The second needed to justify his own failures by diminishing Jesse's effort. Jesse should be proud that his results came from consistency, hard work and effort and not from a syringe.

Focus on being proud of what has been accomplished. Next step in strength training (to add to your natural strength training) strengthen your self internally. Seek God first, die to self, encourage other people who are struggling. Maybe someone starting where you did. Or wrestling with things you do. Growth in life is a lot more than the superficial and maybe this is where you have come to now. Who knows might not give up because of you. Humor is definitely a strong suit with and that could help someone. People get caught up superficial stuff and then death or something else comes and not ready. Hang in there stand firm. That kind of physique is lean, subtle and fits into a suit perfectly. “Thinish” when compared to someone absolutely fixated on bulk but who can’t throw a punch, kick a ball, do a high jump or even hold themselves up on a bar for more than three seconds. So what’s it all for? Certainly NOT aesthetics since I think Michelangelo knew a lot more about male beauty and proportionality than the modern steroid taker.

I'm 31 and was already on my fitness journey with athlean-x when Jesse started appearing. I remember him starting to dabble before really setting off on his own journey. He caught right up to me, but I never felt jealous of his gains. We look similar though his PR's are definitely higher. Ive only ever trained myself at home, so he makes me feel relieved and confident that I know what's generally to be expected for a natty. Jesse is the control group you can trust

Chiming in - gains are ultimately just a physical sign of power. If you are getting gains but still deeply dissatisfied, you may want to look for growing your power in other ways. I suggest taking up boxing or judo & see if the enpowerment from there is what you're really looking for. All the best, Jesse!

Jesse - I too weigh 165 lbs…and I’ve weighed that for most of my 56 year life. Keep enjoying your amazing gains, as you had a completely “blank slate” to start with (as I did as a very skinny kid!). You can only keep going UP!

I should also say that, with the great help of you and Jeff with all the great tips, I’m the happiest I’ve been NOW!…after 4 decades of lifting! I still weigh 165 lbs but I “wear it well!” 😀

Jesse, I remember when you started this journey. You weren't even interested in working out and Jeff was giving you grief for all the gummy bears you were snacking on. I don't think you realize how inspiring your journey has been thus far. And look at you now! You've gained 30 lbs total, and clearly more in muscle, and you look great! Not to mention, you're so hooked on your workouts now that you want even more. I know it isn't easy; our own thoughts can often be our worst enemy, but you don't need to chase the looks of other gym-goers or the praise of those on social media. There will always be someone trying to tear you down. Don't let that someone be you. Instead, tell yourself what I'm sure you'd tell anyone else in an instant that has gone on your journey. And that is that you're doing great, keep it up, and hold your head high! You should be proud of how far you've come.

I can say you have been motivation for me and I’m super proud of you. Thank you for being honest about your struggles, it’s a potential life saver for not just you, but for viewers. Also, don’t read the comments 😂

I watch your videos all the time, and appreciate the content! Jessie has made GREAT gains in size and strength since he started, and there is zero question about this! Like Jessie, I was skinny as a rail when I started training 36 YEARS ago......I was 6'2" tall, and 151 pounds!! But, I REFUSED to take any chemicals, and I stood by that my whole life. At my peak, I was a lean 210 pounds. Then I got married at 48, and had kids, and now I'm a lean 200 pounds. The desire to take chemicals is more about insecurity in yourself, so get some counselling, or get off social media, and learn to love who you are! :)

My trainer has the right attitude: she told her best friend who told her that he considers taking steroids that for her there is no "good" level of steroids. Either you take them or not. And if you do, she is out. Because she does not want to worry about him dying of heart attack for no reason. We had such cases here in the Czech Republic. She says that noone needs that sh...t and if one is not willing to work hard and be satisfied with what you achieve, one should stop working out. Because as you say, once you go on the slippery slope of drug addiction, nothing is ever enough.

In 20 years when you are older and still strong and healthy, have a family, and can live each day without issues you will be happy you chose to not take steroids. Plus you can deadlift/ squat 3-4 times your weight? I would love to be able to do that. Be proud of what you accomplished. Truly amazing.

When I hit 55 my strength and my libido started to decline. I had my testosterone levels tested and found they were a little low at 300, and through trt I have them stable at ~800. My strength has gone up only a little and my libido a lot. I feel better in every single metric. I don't have any desire to increase my dose, and my doctor wouldn't let me even if I did. I wish Jeff would differentiate between this type of trt use and steroid abuse. As a 30 year old with lifts like Jesse I'd never consider trt or steroid use. Honestly, he could put on some weight and gain strength at the cost of some body fat gain, easily. For his height 165 is light. I'm only 5'3" and weight a bit more than that with lifts about 20% less than Jesse. In any case, I honestly think trt can be beneficial to those with low testosterone, especially for guys 50+ where their natural testosterone has dropped. I'd like to hear some distinction and discussion between those cases and those who are merely using it for gains.
@nboss9686 ай бұрын
Most people who say TRT really mean for performance above normal levels not for medical purposes to restore normal levels like you are doing so they give it a bad name.
@semenivanoff86156 ай бұрын
Why do you need libido at 55?!? The time for that has passed.
@tonyevans32976 ай бұрын
waaaaaaaah! He's not talking about limp dick. He's talking about people who want to look big and lift more. Libido problems with age is a different thing. And 1d a day a day isn't going to help you. It's fine you talked to your doc and got a dose that helps, but this isn't a medical channel. You don't have to look here for approval to take controlled steroids. Your doctor already gave that to you.

Thank you for this! I appreciate that you addressed the mental health ramifications. There are people like me, who struggle with addiction, who would get consumed and ruined. A little would never be enough. I don't like the person looking back at me in the mirror and I doubt getting a boost from steroids would change that opinion. The message of learning to love yourself for who you are and pushing yourself to your natural limits hits home.

Expectations and standards have simply become ridiculous. The physiques of guys who have 1% genetics AND are juicing are now considered attainable by everybody. I love the realness and vulnerability of your channel. I can relate to the video, even though, I'm not a guy. It's easier to remember the negative comments. I think depression and anxiety lead us to a desperation that makes us find any way to make them go away. Even if that way won't benefit us. That has been in my experience. I'm still working on my insecurities and increasing my self-esteem. I like that comment that people bash because they wish they could be that person. I think this is the case. If compare Jesse to himself, before and after pictures, he is doing great. And that is all that needs done. I must remember that too, I must not compare my situation to anyone's situation but my own. But I believe we can definitely inspire and encourage each other. I hope Jesse continues to challenge himself naturally. Jesse's example and progress are encouraging me. Thank you. Please keep the videos coming. Stay safe, take care all.

But Jesse you are doing so darn good, performance and how you feel inside is all that matters. If you start pushing that bodybuilder build, you're going to get more attention from men unless for women what do you have going on is the athletic build that women love, just like the swimmer's build and just like the Warriors build. You need not worry about looking like an elite bodybuilder. It's pointless.

My liver is far too functional and my kidneys are too healthy. Also my heart is way too small and I need these internal organs to be heavily degraded through the abuse of chemicals. Is there hope for me to be able to damage my internal physiology via chemical dependency?

Who asked 😂? Got a bit of a "main character " syndrome going? An organ can fail without warning even in the healthiest person.
@HumanGorillaHormone6 ай бұрын
Ur heart will grow from training and exercise anyway. Liver and kidneys will be totally fine providing you don't pound oral steroids and live on mcdonalds. You do understand that there are millions of people on steroids across the world... Most of which do them completely wrong... And we have how many deaths? How many bodybuilder deaths didn't include insulin, diuretics, recreational drugs, genetic clotting disorders etc? Bc if it includes any of those it's not from the steroids. Pretty simple stuff. They aren't miracle drugs... It won't make Ur bench go from 405 to 595 and it won't kill you either. The truth is between the two extremes.

Jessie, the first videos I watched from Athlean X were about rounded shoulders and you were used as an example for the exercises. Sometimes I remember you then and think of how your posture improved, and that motivates me to continue stretching and strengthening my muscles to improve my posture. I know your progress wasn't achieved by the same five exercises in a video posted years ago, but what I'm saying is that I thought of you a few times and that motivated me to keep working on my goals. I don't follow social media and my ideal body type is more lean, like ballet dancers. So I, for one, think you look great and that your progress is really amazing. I hope you feel that, too.

I'm 44, and I'm still pretty shredded. As long as I maintain a healthy weight, and can exercise the way I want, that's all I need. But, it's just a fact of life, that we all will deteriorate, and it will become difficult to maintain healthy muscle mass, and retain that athleticism that allows you to still be mobile. There WILL come a time when it gets harder to maintain that healthy weight and still workout the way you might want. There is a serious conversation to be had once that time comes, and I'm always wondering when that might be. Heck, maybe the amount of maintenance required, or potential side effects makes it not worth it for some people. Or maybe, for some, it might allow you to continue to work out a bit longer, aid you in your mobility, etc. I'm sure as we all age, being FIT/AGILE on some level might be the difference between slipping and injuring yourself, or catching yourself before you injure yourself. I'd just be curious to hear THAT conversation.

Like Jeff said it doesn’t really matter who but it’s critical to have someone in your life that can be on your side and tell you the truth because everyone who works out and looks at the mirror eventually begins to doubt their progress and needs someone in their life to help them get to that next level
