Crazy days when people are willing to pay a premium for something we all considered the worst thing about the Les Pauls from that era. Why anyone would choose one of these over a regular Standard with a two piece figured top is cray cray. If you like Slash, buy one of his AAA top models for the same price and if you like the 80's vibe, buy a used original for the same or less. They're great players for sure.

@@Trog Fair enough... Some people may be asking a lot ... but anyone who pays more than $3200 for a plain-jane, late 80's Standard isn't looking very hard. Even if they did pay more, the real thing is so much better than a no frills, quasi signature model.

What if you already have the flame top Slash guitars? It's not a matter of choosing this above a nicer top Les Paul, its a matter of wanting this to add to your collection. Doesnt need to be a choice. I have quilt tops, flame tops, one piece tops and so on. It's what I like. Also $3200 these days isnt a lot for a guitar, I saw an Ibanez that was 5 times that much. Customs are all more than that. $3000 is the price for the USA range, not even high end guitars.

I can’t stand flame maple tops, just too gaudy and loud. I wish they would make more guitars with plain maple tops. Each to their own but I much rather prefer very plain wood grain with very subtle bursts.
@Darth.Shredder7 ай бұрын
@@Aspkkr Yes, it is about a choice, otherwise Gibson is solely relying on Slash fanboys and collectors to be repeat buyers. Most players will buy one or the other. I never said $3200 was too expensive or that people shouldn't spend that much on a guitar... i said there were much better options for $3200 and less. That applies to anyone, not just Slash fanboys. I like the three piece top and the lack of flame. I think it makes it more of a 'working' instrument and less ornamental and less for show. Matched tops can be a bit formulaic. It also makes me think of players in the past who stripped a single color finish that they didn't like to reveal the maple underneath.
@Darth.Shredder7 ай бұрын
The only problem with that logic is that if it's a "working" instrument it shouldn't cost the same as the ornamental one "for show". Three piece tops were used in the 80's to save money - it was never a positive attribute. It's not $3200 because it has a 3 piece top, it's $3200 because it has Slash's name on it. The Les Paul "Classic" would make more sense as a "working" instrument... it comes in the same finish and costs $1,000 less... plus it has the 2 piece top and fret nibs that cost more to produce. In essence, you're paying more for less with the Jessica.
@thenoodler7 ай бұрын
If you were a teen in the late 80's like I was, this is "the" guitar to have. All the GnR concert video's, live photo's etc featured slash with this guitar or one like it. Why not just buy the Classic in honeyburst? It's the same finish, it's a plain top, it's weight relieved and has a natural back for $1,000 less than the Jessica. 3 piece top, no fret inlays, no seymour duncan. Is this really an epiphone with the Gibson logo in it?
@dane44537 ай бұрын
I like the color, but do not think it's worth the price. The leaving off of the fret nibs bothers me, too. You can just buy a regular Les Paul and install Slash SD pickups. Not worth it.

DEFINITELY FIOR ME! I've been waiting for this my entire guitar career (since 2000).

nice looking les paul but im sure most people dont want to pay the price for it.

To be honest, I don’t see the appeal of any of the slash guitars.

It's for people who like slash, Mid-hight output alnico humbucker pickups and unique finish options e.g. the gold top with the black back. Oh and also the base ball bat sized necks!

Nope. Ugly. Boring. And are a signature model for the most boring, bland, vanilla player of all time. Honestly, if I never heard Slash’s name for the rest of time…that would be fine. There are so many young, new, exciting players out there. Let’s move on. Slash hasn’t been culturally impactful since 1991.

@@anorexorc1st the kids that were 18 in 1991 are the only ones who can afford new Gibson's now.

3:13 Not really sure when $3,100.00 makes sense for any guitar. Not when there are so many other options for way less.
@wesleyAlan91797 ай бұрын
Purchasing a guitar like this will keep its value, possibly even go up...where as your "many other options" won't. It's an investment. Hope that helps🤘

@@wesleyAlan9179 Not really. I think guitars are instruments meant to be played, not collected for investment purposes. That is why I think that it’s great to buy a guitar to play of really good quality and save, in some cases, thousands of dollars, which can be saved or used for better purposes. I think companies like Fender and Gibson will of coarse always have their loyal followers but now there are so many companies doing great jobs at building and selling guitars for so much less money. I personally do not have a collectors mentality. Hope that helps.

@@wesleyAlan9179 Not really. To me a guitar is an instrument meant to be played. That is where the joy is found. I could never view a guitar as a financial investment, even though I realize there is money to be made. I also would never buy a new guitar, as there are an endless number of great guitars to be enjoyed in the wild. When one wants a guitar change, it is fairly easy to trade or sell. Hope that helps.

@ckelly5141 Well, what I said is a fact and that's why. That's the only reason. That should of helped you understand. It's ok that you you don't really care about that kind of stuff, I realy don't either...but, that's why.
