Thank you so much for taking the time to talk construction. You have me thinking. I’ve been mulling over fit instead of blindly knitting. Although I do love it when I figure out what I want/need and can just go with it. It’s a process for sure. I’m still working on how raglans and yoke fit on me. I’ve used saddle construction and am really curious about the contiguous sleeve method. Haven’t figured that out yet. On knitting community, I also knit and watch podcasts to connect to others. Truthfully I think I continue to improve as a knitter because of it - I appreciate watching and learning. On family and work, I so appreciate your efforts to not only design but to give of yourself for the rest of us while still taking care of your family. You make a difference and are valued ❤

I’m here to tell you that you’re very talented and an awesome teacher. I think many of us are envious of your lifestyle because you put your family and God first-as it should be! I’m finally gaining headway on your Sweet Sage pattern for my grandson, Silas. My only delay was finding the right 🧶 yarn. I plan to knit all of your patterns because they will enable me to learn new skills and I love them all! ❤

Lovely vibe your podcast has. Thanks so much. Have you watched any of The Bluebird Box podcasts? You remind me of her, although she is Canadian. You both live in the outback of your countries, you are both designers and mothers of young children. She has two young girls. She also agonises over small details. xx Very best wishes Lynn Albany, Western Australia

I to have problems with rounded yoke sweaters. Being short and high busted can create those bat wings you were talking about. Listening to you and thinking this through, I'm going to try increasing at a quicker rate which should raise the depth of the yoke and increase the number of stitches needed around the bust. Removing extra fabric from the underarm. But well that interfere with the sweater laying flat on the chest? In garment making I need to raise the front and back 1" across the chest. Then drop the armholes down 1". I know you put alot of work into designing sweaters and they are just gorgeous. But wanting them to look just as gorgeous in me too.

I watch all of your episodes and you are very informative and great to listen to. My question has to do with the neckline of a colourwork sweater. If you knit a top down sweater, cast on, do ribbing and then on to the yoke etc. and find that the neckline seemed fine as you tried it on after the yoke but it seems to have stretched out once the sweater is finished - how would you remedy this finished neckline to make it tighten up? I am not skilled enough to take apart the cast on edge in a finished sweater and hope that there is an easier fix to this. Thank you.

Hi Susan, I found that as well. Once the body and sleeves are knit, the neckline always seems to be wider. I've had to fix a couple of sweaters because of that and my go to method for that was to detach the neck ribbing, bind off, and then pick up stitches from that cast off edge to knit the actual neck ribbing. Tin can knits has a great blog post on that subject (blog.tincanknits.com/2021/04/08/how-to-get-the-perfect-neckline/). (I know you said you're not skilled enough for that. We never think we are until we try something for the first time and are then buoyed by our success. If you can knit a sweater, you can do this fix. Since you're only unraveling a few stitches at a time, you can easily put those on a needle or a life line as you go. You could also place the life line first before cutting by going around and putting it through one leg of each stitch.) I now prefer to cast on below the neck ribbing and add the ribbing later. That cast on edge provides great structure and helps prevent the neckline from stretching out since the sweater is now hanging off that cast on edge and not the ribbing. It's an easy modification to most circular yoke patterns.

Thank you Andrea for your information. I will refer to the Tin Can Knits page and try that method. In the future I think I will do as you suggested and finish the neckline afterwards, that makes sense to give the neckline the stability. Many thanks
