Who says “an old fox can’t learn new things “ is wrong. Your tips are easier than what I was doing , I’m doing it your way. Thank you so much. 👍👍😊

I watched your sew along and find your techniques interesting. I would love to hear more about your back story of how you came to quilt. Your instructions are on point and I have been quilting for a decade now. Good to see the craft is moving on to another generation. Stay at it. People will find you and watch. Blessings

Even though I learned to quilt many years ago I still enjoy watching your tutorials to see if I can pick up new ways to do things! I really like how you do things simple, like no pins! I would like to see your take on a log cabin quilt using jelly rolls and quilt as you go style. Thank you for all your great tutorials 🪡🧵💜

Love your videos, I have learned so much. Wanted to share a tip with you about starting your thread when you hand bind. Instead of making a knot in the two ends, thread the cut ends of the thread into the needle - then you have a loop of thread with no knot in it to put your needle through to secure it. (Loop start) Thought you might be interested in this technique.

So you go throught the binding, I was just catching the binding but not going through it more time consuming, I'll give your way a try.

Totally agree with you on the Connecting Thread issue .. I too, have a small arsenal and my machine does not like it (Janome m7) but I can use it in my bobbins, so that’s where I’ve been using it.

Hi Jessica, love watching your video’s. I struggle with connecting binding at the beginning/ending. I guess the more practice makes perfect. How did you learn to do it? Your quilts are beautiful and your explanation’s wonderful.
@jessica_dayon Жыл бұрын
You are correct- the more you practice, the easier it gets. I learned from a Missouri Star video a while back and then, witch practice, it became easier and easier. It was tricky at first though!

I agree with your assessment of Connecting Threads thread quality. I will not make another purchase.

What size needle do you use? Thanks for sharing , i'm wanting to try hand binding on my current quilt project.
@jessica_dayon Жыл бұрын
I use a size 10 milliner generally. I don't think it's really important to use a certain size or type. I think you need to use what feels comfortable in your hands.

Thank u so much for that advice. I focus to much on the supplies and not the techie.

I have! I've made two different ones. The one I gave away- I'll see if I can track down a photo. The other I have here as a top but I still need to quilt it. I'll make a note to share about it.

I have so enjoyed this quilt along. I would love to see how you manage your scraps and what do you do with them. Do you sort your fabrics and scraps in a particular way? Is it by colour, by cut? Thank you Jessica.
@jessica_dayon Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I don't do much in the way of scrap sorting. Eventually I'll need to! I have bins sorted by color but those are full so currently I have a big basket that I throw all my scraps into. I'll need to make a bunch of scrap quilts to use them up!
