Jessie please please pull out that red oxalis with the tiny yellow flowers on in the beetroot segment of the video .The seeds fly up to 40 ft and you will never ever get rid of it .A small patch has colonised nearly every veg bed I have despite constant weeding.

Jessie,, you could collect all those leaves you were walking through at the start of this video and make leafmold to improve your very sandy soil,, a great plot tour with loads of jobs still to do,,,

If the figs are big enough you can dip a round toothpick in extra virgin olive oil, and touch the eye of the figs with a drop. The fig will ripen in just a few days. Best while still warm outside but worth a try.

You need to take all those figs off in autumn so the new little ones can come that will be your harvest next year. We always have hundreds we take off every year but we have had a good harvest this year.

FYI I've grown Sugarbaby watermelons. They are absolutely delicious. Extremely sweet, tiny seeds, thin skin. Mine were teeny tiny but no matter, that watermelon crispy sweet flesh was bang on. I made little hammocks fir the melons and grew the vine upwards, worked a charm. Good luck!

I store beetroot in sand in boxes overwinter…some have gone to seed so are woody/stringy….so I ration those and give them to the Guinea pigs….much enjoyed by them😋

You need a brassica cage the size of the fruit cage 😂😂. I am still harvesting purple queen french beans 🫘 but then it’s still mid 20’s here 🤷‍♀️. Looking lovely and great flowers I am loving zinnias and they are apparently loving this heat. Have a fantastic week ladies be safe

Really enjoyed the autumn tour of the plot….successes and ‘not so much!!’…love the variety you pack into the space…Lots of ‘envy’ going on this end 😵‍💫😵‍💫…(in a good way 😃😵‍💫)…The way you treat the plants and flowers like loveable little personalities, is great 👍👍….though the list of things to do was getting a bit frightening 😱…I agree about the runner bean flowers…got to be the bright and cheerful orange/red ones !!!!….Glad the two girlies are adjusting to being just a twosome now…still strange though 🙏😢..my tomatoes and beans are over completely…and winter ‘stuff’ in their place…And the Christmas ‘Spuds’ are doing well in those potato bags…so far 🤞🤞…we shall see, later!!…Do you eat the nasturtium leaves in salads’.. I know you can eat the flowers…I love them, they grow themselves with no effort…Tell ‘Mom’ from me… that my watercress growing was very successful… she could grow some at home in your house garden… which she would love… and not difficult really 😃👌👌….Very impressed with the spreadsheet , Jessie, but my IT skills and interest is negligible…Don’t grow vast amounts…and keep plans in my head mostly… and then ‘wing’ it !!!🤣…have really enjoyed getting back into growing stuff again… 🥂🍾…..cheers to you for the inspiration…again Jessie and ‘Mom’ …Sue (Birmingham) 🐓🐓🍎🍐🥬🥦🥕🫑..(yum!)

Beets make fabulous soup..borscht. Delicious and warming for winter. It freezes fabulously. I have done sugar babies for 2 years now...yummy. Don’t forget weekly feeds high in nitrogen and regular watering. Grow some micro greens with all those extra lettuce seeds! Because I am covered in snow all winter in Chicagoland, micro greens are my growing fix.

Sorry to hear about your little pal. I had to smile because I too have masses of packets but this year didn't go to plan and since my hubby's mini stroke we have had to re hash our half allotment. The spreadsheet looks and sounds amazing. I use a dairy and put smiley or sad faces to indicate if it was a success or not, then when I get my new diary at Christmas I copy across sowing dates along with any updates. October probably my busiest month in the garden, just the huge amount of tidying up to do. I have got some planting to do next week. Preparing my forced bulbs for Christmas

With the beetroot I cook peal and slice mine and then freeze in small portions. I also peal and cube raw beetroot to mix with other veg or fruit for smoothies which I was told help with carpel tunnel

Check you out with the spread sheet!! What cleverness! Very interesting to see all your varieties too! Gutted for you losing Millie. It’s so hard. We lost our Poppy Pekin last spring and she was only 11 months. Who knows why?! It’s so hard. At least you can be safe in the knowledge that Millie lived in a chickens paradise, living her best life everyday. Our girls have just gone back into flockdown again here in Suffolk! Gutted. Local News was reporting with a focus/point of view for the welfare of the chickens during flockdown which was very interesting! Still sometimes you’ve got to focus on the best bits and you’ve done that really well in your vlog this week. Love the tour! Nothing better than a nosy around someone else’s garden 🙌☺️

Beetroot is easy to pickle which would use it before it goes woody. If you like pickled beetroot of course!

I never plan it’s always in my head. I stand and look around the plot and I say I think I will grow onions there garlic here…… etc etc and I clear spaces and plant this and that in spaces I find. We have no sides on our beds but we do have little woodchip paths mingling here and there. But you have beds very organised. We do have beds on the new strip but no sides. Do you watch Steve’s seaside allotment? He has lots of spreadsheets and charts he is so organised. You will have mum to help now as she couldn’t much this last year could she. So cheers for the new growing year🥂

Oh Jessie I'm the same, duplicate seed packets everywhere. Have to sort out 8 seed tins that are rammed lol. Your allotment looks amazing. My viburnam plant is in flower, supposed to flower in mid winter. What's going on with these plants!! I love a spreadsheet and found it really helpful. Jessie, your channel is a calm oasis. My courgettes went the same way, they were late to start then all over when it started to rain. Such a strange summer this year. They had very short cropping season (6-8 weeks?) but what grew was delicious! Grisette, Petty Pan and Yellow Scallop. Testing winter lettuce and cabbage (and rainbow chard) in the polytunnel this winter in Bristol, UK. Cheers to you, the family and for little Mills.

Millie's forever in your garden, and we buried Tangle beneath a new Rowan tree...which will now be known as a 'Tangle Tree'😄 As for green tomato chutney, I made a dozen jars of the stuff yesterday🤭This has been my very first year of growing veggies and I reckon I got lucky with the weather because we've had so many beautiful tomatoes, cherry, plum and a 'black' one (name escapes me) cucumbers were so-so, kale has been fab, courgettes have been brilliant too, must grow more next year, didn't plant enough this year, peppers were a success, broad beans were ok-ish, but they're a right faff and for the amount of tlc I gave them, by the time I'd prepared them, well, let's just say the return wasn't great, but at least the black fly attracted the ladybirds. Flat leaf parsley was super-duper...just ask the rabbit!!🤣elephant garlic was a revelation, loved it...onions got white rot, green beans would have been great but for the fact that I planted them in such a way that I could see the beans but couldn't flippin' get to them without destroying many of the plants, don't ask!!😂Rhubarb omg it's my new best friend lol and the fruit trees excelled themselves unlike the raspberries(but we won't mention them). All in all, I don't think I did too badly for my first attempt...no-one told me that I'd have to do it all again next year though!!😝

Kerrs Pink is a flavoursome potato but not a big cropper at the best of times, also very susceptible to blight. My suggestion for you Jessie is Sarpo Axona or Sarpo Miro two modern red varieties, they're very blight resistant and heavy croppers. Axona is the best taste but the Miro isn't bad . They store extremely well too compared to the Pinks . Have you considered sowing all that lettuce together and getting a few rabbits to keep it under control . Excellent video as always.

I took your advice last year and grew Socrates we had a few but not as prolific as marketmore. We grew telegraph in poly but they started off being very bitter then settled down. Once we had first cu we have had them continuously and still eating them so very successful

Ha love your spreadsheet like the sub category n description idea, I always do my sowing list but it goes mad by March, I have my seeds grouped by flower n veg by month so I can grab the months drawer and be there or there abouts depending on the weather. I also use Visio for my planting plan so I remember what has been planted where. I also have a seed bought and use by column too
