I have a similar basket my sister gave me for Christmas and I first used it to keep hats and gloves during winter. I now use it for my vehicle and put an umbrella, wet wipes and neck pillow. Since I’ve got all the materials, I am so making this! This would be great for making Christmas baskets and stuff a range of items in it.

You CAN birth basket. Leave opening so it falls across the divider - half of opening is on each side of divider. I.e. measure over 3" both sides of top so you can see divider in centre of opening.

I actually like a drop in lining. It's so much easier to put some kind of a firm bottom into the basket for extra stability. Also, If you do the handles a little bit different, you could also use a fold-over binding around the top. Thanks Jess!

LOVE THIS!! And even though I really don't need another project to try, I bought the pattern. I've got an assortment of fun cat print fabrics that I'm going to start with. You've got links for so many of the things you use, I'd love to see a link for your cute bag tags! I also make bags and haven't had much luck finding something that is different, and cute.

It seems like you could leave the bottom of the outside open and hand sew it afterward, since the lining will take the brunt of the stress, if you absolutely must birth it. However it is assembled, though, the rim will have to be top-stitched to make it look finished, so I think the drop-in lining is perfect. Can't wait to make this bag and add a few more pockets. I love pockets. Love your channel!

It's much easier if you mark flat pieces before you sew. Top folds of lining and exterior, handle placement. I also add DST along those edges before I sew. I'd mark the centers of the exterior panels with disappearing ink, too, about 3/4" down to make matching the lining to the exterior more accurate. Drop in linings are my favorite, but you must be very accurate in your cutting and seam allowances.

Hi Jess! Your awesome. Thank you for all you do in the sewing community. Love your style of teaching. You said to request so here it goes. I bought the Markers tote by Noodle head when it came out. There is not 1 full tutorial for this pattern by anyone. I would love & appreciate it if you can do one. It looks like a great organizer. Btw… I love Noodle head patterns too when she does tutorials for her patterns. She always has little technics that amazes me. Thank you in advance. Tina B😊

Also, how did you get your pattern templates so smooth? My pattern has all sorts of fold lines. I can't wait to make this - we are going to be having a baby in the family after 22 years!! In order to birth the basket, could you construct like in this video? Then you'd only need to fold a few inches of the exterior and lining. You can close the hole with your first line of top stitching. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHTHmneGhstkrtksi=8KnDCfph1MyiPLmi
