Oh Jess! Thank you so much! You are the only KZbinr I've seen that has spoken about the true cost of having a Hermes Birkin and/or Kelly. You are so right because I only have two Picotins and an Evelyn and my insurance didn't cover half the cost of these bags. Also, I have a selection of Hermes homeware and that was not even covered! I had to purchase extra insurance just for my Hermes items.

Totally agree with all the points you raised, the killer point for me is, my arms just get really hurt after probably 1 hour holding it. That’s why I am only interested in Kelly. Kelly is very practical and beautiful on shoulder and arms. ❤ I also like the Kelly look is much more understated, if you know, you know kind of feel, I feel safe and less of a target wearing it.

I understand what you mean by looking a bit showy! But you worked hard for those bags Jessie! And you deserve to carry them and yes you’re going to get attention! It may trigger some anxiety that you have so it may not be good for you but as for me that’s one of the reasons I love bags is for the attention and the recognition it’s some thing to show that you have worked hard in your life and you deserve things that are nice Jessie! I wouldn’t be mad if you got rid of half of your Hermès collection! i had a Birkin 35 and it was my work bag for years but i recently sold it. i use a medium Telfar instead😊 i have a lot of vintage bags and i feel better using them than anything pristine that could make me a target.

Great video Jessie! Personally I wouldn’t be able to own a B or a K as the anxiety of it being robbed/someone breaking into my home etc would be all too much for me! I mean the most expensive bag I have bought was a vintage Chanel Diana…. It was beautiful, I only wore it a couple of times but that stressed me out and was “unsettling to wear” as you said yourself. So I sold her. I’ll stick to LV, longchamp, MJ and mulberry 🙏😊

Hi there, I am a bit puzzled: the insurance issue applies regardless of the bag being a Hermes Birkin or Kelly or what not. The same goes re carrying luxury stuff. Let’s all remember here that Chanel bags are now way more expensive than H quota bags from the boutique. The accessories are a personal choice. All brands sell the equivalent nowadays. It is part of the deal. This applies to everything luxury: cars, watches, art, you name it.

I totally agree with you, insurance covers everything in the home and not a specific item and Chanel bags cost much more than getting an Hermès in store. Extras like twilly are a non issue because again they cost less than the equivalent from LV, Dior etc. If your going to be robbed rest assure it will not only be because a bag.

I have that same pegases charm =) it matches my blues and greens so well. while I don't have a B or K, the H bags I do have unlocked an obsession with small silk items to tie on the handles (I've never used them for anything else, yet must have more) as well as $700 bag charms. it's like jewelry for my bags. otherwise, I dress so plainly so I don't think people who are not into bags would notice a Birkin on me. but I can't know for sure until the time comes.

I’ll be getting my first Hermès Birkin size 25 in the next couple weeks! I’ve been saving my money every week and I’m almost there I got six different ones in my cart at various places I’m stuck between what color to choose! I have a Togo black with gold hardware or clemence or Togo bamboo green with gold hardware or a beautiful royal blue color I forget the name with palladium i’m thinking of just getting the black with gold hardware because it will go with everything and then I’m already thinking my second bag! I definitely have insurance for my bags. I live in a place where I can wear it without feeling out of place. It’s my only bag that is not that easy to replace. That’s the part that bothers me the most. Price yes, but I got it from the boutique in the exact specs I wanted so it’s precious. I don’t have that stress over my cf to be honest. I definitely won’t have many of these bags, one birkin for now is plenty. I love my Hermes bon quota bags, no stress about them.

Insurance is such a hit and miss. These companies find every excuse not to pay up and they will pull up all these clauses to say that your loss doesn't fit in the policy blah blah. For things that are subjective, I don't think they're worth while.

Off topic of this video, but I’ve noticed that there is a version (I believe released early 90’s, but don’t quote me) of The Sak Elliot Luca bag that is almost exactly like Chanel’s 22. The Sak mostly made theses bags in a knitted version, but there is also a rarer leather version that is very similar to the Chanel 22 sans that chain straps (The Sak’s are leather pull through straps and not chain like the Chanel 22). I just got one on the preloved market for under $20 USD. Shows you that designs come back around. Thought you might be interested in checking that out and compare online images of both bags like I did.

I was thinking about getting insurance on my bags ! Here in America I was asking about it and they asked if I would like renters insurance and said I can include it but they didn’t seem like it was going to be expensive I told him I had Chanel and Louis Vuitton for example and he said yes we can insure those? maybe that was to insure them for up to 1000 lol all of my bags cost over that except one so that would not help !

Hi Jess, Insurance policy in the US are very high also. To own luxury items insurance is a must…my hubby will not even let me use a item without having it insured. We have so many policy riders for these items it hard to keep track but they have a yearly renewal. But it’s always being added too. His golf cubs are insured which I find crazy but a really good set cost $$$$.We live in a world where we have to protect ourselves and our things. Love your new collection I have tried to stop buying bags, shoes, and clothes but a new season and lots of eye candy he says if it makes you happy get it……N

Love the bags. However, my lifestyle and my friend group doesn't justify one purchase, let-alone a couple. It doesn't make sense at all for me. Plus, owing Hermes makes me feel very self-conscious. I love beautiful things, but I struggle with making myself the centre of attention and even owning the few luxury items I do have is a psychological challenge. My goal moving forward is to honour my lifestyle and who I am verse fomo. Love looking at everyone else material goods and celebrating in their joy, but keeping money in my pocket.

They do sell straps but the birkin is not supposed to have a strap on it!!! It’s hand held only!! There are attachments you can buy on Etsy to make it a strap bag but I think it ruins the design myself 🤣

Actually, hermes bags are very low profile. If I don't follow the luxury world, I would honestly not think these bags are even expensive. Thats why the ultra rich buy them, to stay low profile. Chanel bags look much more expensive with their exquisite design especially the classic flaps. I would still buy classic flaps personally as compared xoxoxo
