Your approach to responsible consumption truly resonates with me, and it's something I find missing in most luxury content these days. So many influencers seem to forget what luxury is actually about. When you see people with 20+ Hermès bags, it starts to feel more like expensive mass market than true luxury. Luxury, isn't about excess or amassing collections for the sake of it. It’s about quality, craftsmanship, and choosing pieces that truly bring joy or add value to our lives. It’s something special, not something that should become just another commodity. Your thoughtful approach to luxury, really keeps that spirit alive. Thank you Lou for bringing authenticity and a mindful perspective back into the luxury conversation. It's refreshing, and it's why you're the only luxury influencer I follow.

It’s really nice to hear you say you are straying away from luxury jewelry pieces, it’s so true that you can find something truly unique from local jewellers or by commisioning custom jewelry, instead of owning something that is owned by many other influencers. It’s nice that you already have the pieces that you do, but yes, the asking prices for luxury items is so high. Living in Europe I’m sure there are so many amazing antique, vintage, or local and high quality jewelry to discover just walking down the street :). Nice video! As for me, I have been finding my style too, I am noticing the items in my closet that I bought but am not using much or don’t flatter me. It’s a lot to do with the shape of the clothing, baggy clothes are not for me. Also I’ve been avoiding the logos too much too because I own pieces already with logos. Also costume jewelry or jewelry that isn’t tarnish free. It’s so disheartening to have things tarnish after you spent money on it

I love your approach to this and I just recently started doing the same! Plus I think once we have purchased a lot of various things in different categories we can finally determine our style and what works best for our situation as well~ It's a good feeling to have less sruff and have more positive attachments to the things we own, rather than the things owning us. Timeless items help with this as well!

I agree with most of these. I was a sucker for fancy skincare, but after switching to boring pharmacy skincare, my skin issues have calmed down. I do like fancy sunglasses and glasses: they feel so nice, are a relatively affordable luxury item, and a great way to bring a current style to a basic look.

I love ur strategy. I'm basically doing the same, but since I don't have a great outlet for selling my bags, I'm keeping them, with the exception of gifting one here and there. I'm trying not to buy new bags, not only bc I don't need them (even tho I love a couple greatly) I don't have the lifestyle I once did, so they aren't a priority for me anymore. Regarding cars, I've had fancy cars all my life but have a Prius now so it's changed my mind on having the top of line vehicles. But I will buy a newer fancier hybrid soon.

Totally agree! In addition, I stopped buying so much high street clothing pieces few years ago. Now, I understand luxury and high quality clothing pieces. I want to invest in things that I wear on a daily basis (trench coat) rather than another bag or some fancy shoes that I might wear once or twice a year. Still love Cartier and VCA though. I think these investment pieces will be more valuable in case we have difficult situations in the future (resale will remain higher than regular local butique gold). Good points as usual, Lou! I completely agree with all of your no-buy list and I honestly follow all of those. I just upgraded my Iphone after having the 13 for years. I didn't upgrade my Ipad because there were no good deals and I have almost the newest one anyways. And I am doing the same with bags and shoes and I also do that with clothes. It's nice because then you aren't also adding clutter. One thing I also do is not buy from expensive workout brands. I don't see the point in that. I will buy stuff from Old Navy or Target that honestly are more comfortable and way cheaper because you are literally sweating in them so do not get the deal with LuluLemon, etc. I made my husband take back expensive workout clothes he bought me because I told him I could get something I actually need. And for wallets/small items, I will buy Longchamp or Tory Burch wallets and those are so durable and way more affordable. My wallets and pouches get so damaged and dirty, I can't imagine spending thousands on them! Great video!

To me as for now, no more Hermès items. I shopped in the boutique for few years and I have enough to last me a lifetime, no more! No more silks or bag accessories, again, I own enough. I’m not planning to buy new bags but if I do, I decided that I will do the one in, one out like you. I have a very hard time letting my bags go, so I think it will totally stop me from getting new ones. Also slg’s, I don’t own that many, but I definitely have enough. Designer jewelry, I have some that I wear and love but now, the jewelry that I would add are not designer. And to top it, I started to buy second hand and I realized how much I love it more than actually shopping in the boutique. I don’t need the boutique experience anymore! Oh and one last thing I’m glad I never really got into is designer rtw, I didn’t spend my money on it and I will continue to stay away!

I took pretty much similar approach as you with buying designer staff. im currently selling most of the "logo" clothes and not buying them anymore, I find the difficult to re sell as people would love to grab a bargain. I still buy bags and shoes but less often, at least thats something you can wear a lot and make a lot of outfits with. I still like cartier etc but only what i can wear everyday without changing. I gave up on designer comsetics long time ago as very often they just a name and no great amount of ingredients, there is a lot of brands which focus on beauty which are worth buying rather then brands which are trying to do it all, fashion and beauty.
