Can God really love goths? VICE’s Jak Hutchcraft stumbled across a bible study group for metalheads, punks, and goths and then spent time with them to see how they manage to combine their love of dark, gothic imagery and heavy music with a Christian lifestyle.

I'm a goth, and a metalhead. I've been a goth and metalhead both equally for 12, and a half years. I'm a lover of God, and Jesus Christ. He is the only way, but I respect other people's religious beliefs. I listen to a lot of Goth rock, and Black metal, extreme metal, Death metal. It's not always negative, yes a lot of metal may have "negativity" but you can learn from it, and there's positivity in metal as well, and goth music. I don't care about Satan!

I always think that if it doesn’t affect your spirit to watch scary movies or listen to “bad music” like punk or mental then go for it! If it doesn’t harm no one or block your relationship with god or tend to make you behave in bad ways then it’s just words .

Gothic isn’t the cure, historical gothicness isn’t the same as the music genre goth, like from the 80s. Goth music, what you think of when someone says “I’m goth” takes inspiration from historical Gothisism… may have made that word up but you get what I mean😂 2 closley tied things but not the same, goth vs gothic . Goth is that stuff of the cure , 80s trad goth and onword Gothic is like architecture, literature writings, art forms ect and yes music! A lot of instrumental music of the past and present then the newer stuff like the cure , susie and the banshees ect ect . So you can be gothic..”goth” without being part of the MUSIC subculture of goth. I hope this makes sense !

I heard, "Christianity without culture". "The straw and the wheat". "The robe makes a monk?" "The style of music places you its section". The relationship with the living God is personal and available for all but the style or form of music and dress code will place you within a specific group. So, some will say "you can be a believer but first dress in such a way, etc. Yes; Jesus, Isa, Joshua, Yehoshua, Yeshua loves Goths; all.

The thing about spirituality and religion is you could be religious and spiritual; yet another could be spiritual and non-religious. I believe in spirituality, but don't follow any certain rules like any religion does. I'm a gothic person who is in her "baby bat" years. However I was a goth in secret for many years. Anyway, if this "Jesus" A. Existed B. Was alive in present day It would be a good chance that he would be curious about us and the goth culture.

Yes of course, Jesus loves Goths; in fact he loves everyone. With that said, we are to die to our flesh everyday and resist the devil. We need the Holy Spirit to live inside of us to help us discern what is actually of GOD, our flesh, or the Devil. I know for a fact that Jesus loves everyone, but I would caution against any demonic imagery, music, demonic practices (even if it’s unintentional). Even a single demonic object can open a “door” for the enemy/ demons to enter your life and deceive you.
