It is pretty freaking sweet. I’ve owned mine 2-3yrs or maybe longer. I got a new battery about a year ago though because they updated the battery to 12 speeds. The guy in the video is Brandon. He is a subscriber of the channel and he messaged me asking to try the motor on his board. I figured I would film it to get a non-bias reaction. He had such a blast he bought one immediately when he got home. Haha. There isn’t a more versatile propulsion system I know of on the market. I was a customer first and made some videos then Bixpy contacted me and started providing me with adapters to test and play with. The channel earns a small commission for when viewers decide to buy them via our link. That commission is useful in funding our editing computer we need, cameras, traveling to events, giveaways, etc. If you decide to buy one due to our video consider using our link. Regardless thanks for stopping by the channel. All subscribers who comment on our videos have chances to win periodic giveaways. We plan to do giveaways at least monthly. 🙂

Same 3yr+ old motor. 🙂 I upgraded the battery to lasted generation so I could have 12 speeds. Nothing wrong with my original battery but it just had the 10 speeds. Cool thing is how my 3yr old motor isn’t obsolete. It is the same killer motor and they keep designing mounts for it to work on countless watercraft. By far the coolest propulsion system to date for paddle crafts and small boats. I’ve tried a lot of motors for kayaks and this is still my favorite. Since YakGadget got involved they have gotten some really sweet mount options this past year!

They have adapters for pretty much any kayak. Most versatile propulsion system on the market. If you ever have questions you can ask me. I've bought mine 2-3yrs ago. They recently upgraded the batteries to 12 speeds. They created 2 lower speeds for freshwater fisherman wanting more control on the low end for trolling baits. In low speeds you can get 7 to 10hrs runtime. Performance varies based on what you mount it to. I have tons of videos showing it mounted on different kayaks.

Awsome compare it to trolling motor
@KayakDIY
@KayakDIY 6 ай бұрын
Not comparable really. Totally different in pros/cons. Trolling motor is often cheaper. For instance AutoBoat GPS trolling motor system is my favorite at around $750-800 ready to go, but it isn’t as compact and lightweight as Bixpy. However AutoBoat trolling motor system has GPS and can anchor me in position or drive me where I want to go. Bixpy fits paddleboards easily, but trolling motors are a bit harder to mount. Mounting trolling motor can be done on most SUPs and kayaks, but Bixpy has done a great job of simplifying the mounting process. Lastly Bixpy battery floats and trolling motor batter does not. Nor does trolling motor “typically” have wireless remote unless you have something like AutoBoat GPS adapter system which has remote.

OMG I can’t believe you responded to my comment!😊 I kind of forgot I wrote this but I love what you do man I just got a trolling motor for Christmas and live in Alaska so long winters up here but I’m exited to try it out when summer comes. I’d love to see more trolling motor content and even at 11 years old I absolutely love trolling motors. So I have a video request for you, can you put a trolling motor on a canoe sorry if not possible totally fine I know your name is kayak DIY. But anyway thanks so so much love what you do and exited for more to come, thanks so so so much for responding to my comment!😅

Curious: with the motor mounted inside the fin slot, what would happen should you either run aground or run into a rock… while in the higher settings? Something has to give… motor, fin slot or the back end of the paddle board itself. Thoughts?
@KayakDIY
@KayakDIY 6 ай бұрын
There is some flex on inflatables. This would cushion some of blow. It would also throw paddler off which reduces mass. I’ve hit pretty hard things at high speeds and haven’t broken a J2 or later Bixpy motor. The early J1 motor would break easily in that situation but had replaceable sacrificial parts. There is potential for breakage, but I haven’t observed it in all my years of using. I guess I’m slightly cautious, but even I have my moments and Bixpy survived. Great thing is lots of parts are cheap for Bixpy repairs. I’ve broken grill grates and propellers. www.Bixpy.com/Kayakdiy

how many inches below the bottom of your kayak does the Bixpy go? I've got a Slayer Max and would love to fish more of the Tampa channel and Gulf
@KayakDIY
@KayakDIY 3 жыл бұрын
Depends entirely on what mount you buy. Some of the stern mounts have adjustable draft and you can adjust to run super shallow. The power pole mount adapter would be really sweet on the Slayer Max. Then you could still run pedals and have a motor. I have video of the power pole Bixpy mount adapter on a Hobie Compass Duo here...it should work for Slayer Max too. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aoTEiWd4pLGFprs *Power Pole Mount Adapter For Bixpy:* lddy.no/arr9

@KayakDIY
@KayakDIY 2 жыл бұрын
They discontinued the scuba adapter. I imagine they may reinvent/redesign one for the future. I have the discontinued scuba attachment. I’m still running a 1st generation Bixpy motor but with a 2nd generation battery which has 15% more capacity than the 1st gen and 2 more speeds. I love the Bixpy system. Even my neighbor wants to buy one for his dinghy on his big boat. They are just reliable, water sealed, and lightweight. Heck the battery floats!

For that money buy a Old Town Topwater PDL or Ocean Kayak Malibu PDL. Can find them under $2000 usually. They are freaking awesome. Otherwise could buy a Moken 12.5 V2 kayak with a Bixpy motor pod setup probably close to $2000.

Up to around 10-12hrs in low speed. Kind of depends what you put it on. All kayaks and paddle boards are different. However, It usually covers me for a day on the water with mixed speed use. I use it a lot on my fishing kayaks.

Badass motor, that is salt water right?
@KayakDIY
@KayakDIY 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, most of my videos are on saltwater. That little motor has seen 2-3yrs of saltwater and still looks brand new. I used it often. It is built a million times better than any trolling motor. For one it is completely sealed. Most trolling motors allow water down the shaft and into the motors....therefore you don’t want to flip a kayak with one because the motor could be toast. With this motor you can flip your kayak and the motor and battery will be fine. Even the remote floats and is sealed.

Nice!, I have a Perception Pescador 10.0 Sit-On-Top Kayak which I use on the coast here in Texas Been trying to put a motor on it but they can get very pricey and out of my budget Was just thinking of getting a regular mini Kota and use it till if gives up on me, hopefully it lasts a bit
@KayakDIY
@KayakDIY 3 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with Minn Kota and other trolling motors EXCEPT.... they are really heavy, hard to mount, require heavy batteries, they aren’t as efficient, & they aren’t sealed and are prone to corrosion of internals if you flip the kayak. Do whatever makes you happy and gets you on the water having fun. I’ve built and used multiple homemade trolling motor setups. I just eventually bought this motor kit and have never looked back. Really happy with it.

You basically buy just the outboard kit and then buy any add on adapters that you need. I haven’t found a kayak it wouldn’t fit. If it floats you can’t mount this motor to it. 🙂 lddy.no/3lir

Here is the company's website: lddy.no/8nww It isn't cheap, but it isn't built cheap. It cost less than nearest competitors which honestly aren't near as good. I've owned mine for 2-3yrs and use it mostly in saltwater which is corrosive and hard on most things. It is well made, fits all my watercrafts via a huge library of adapters, and no other system do I know of where the motor and battery are sealed and waterproof. The motor is so well sealed it could be used in scuba diving. The battery floats and is waterproof. The kit just is awesome. Use it all the time. Brandon who is in the video is actually just a subscriber of my channel and he messaged me to try it out on his board. Brandon gave his honest opinion. Brandon bought one shortly after leaving my house.
