I wonder if some kind of intake to compensate for the seat blocking airflow would increase the thrust. I don't know how much that will help, especially with the added drag, but airflow is important for jets. That's why they're so cool. They might not jump off the line, but one you get going the acceleration just keeps coming.

I think if you geared the 125cc for top speed it would reach about 110mph. My guess is the jet engines might exceed that but not by alot. The problem is that the kart chassis is designed around rotational power from the rear wheels, so the handling will be wonky with thrust acceleration. Also uncontained air propulsion is an inefficient means of accelleration so it will go through alot more fuel for a given unit of work.

Hey! wonderful video, loved the 360 degree shots. While watching it got me thinking about how your rear end is basically the same as an aircraft (jet or something) and you are really just trying to fight to point the kart in the right direction. I was wondering how difficult it could be to make exhaust that combine the 3 and add gimbleling, like thrust vectors on jet fighters. Graphite or some ceramic coated titanium that does a basic turbo oil (for a bearing fluid spherical coupler) lubrication for the gimble mount to a bell end area to recapture thrust. Its effectively the same as a rocket engine, but it of course is based on principles of mass ejection speeds to outright performance, however the biggest issues aren't those, unless you are trying to travel extremely fast. Upwards of 3 mach. Slower speeds allow for better efficiency of slower speed capture of escaping gas. The nozzle needs to be able to flare out in a multiple crimped manner way, it allows for further travel along the bell end from a boundary layer effect, to then have a given type of expansion that cools it off but also allows for the bell end to do its work energy capture. If not all that, maybe just a simple rudder like design that allows for some basic thrust vectoring that ends up helping total maintained momentum in corners, that and building a big old ram air pipe system to sit on and feed into all 3 of these jets. It would probably help quite a bit with giving it more air & having it be more consistent air flow through to the jets. Allowing for better burn overall, improving performance, but if you force more air in you can't go too lean otherwise you'll damage the jets, as I'm sure you'll know all about, same with putting more in as their is a point of a risk of over pressure, plus they are expensive. I would say a type of lower temp gas, butane, together with a given type of throttle body valve (tear drop like) at the choke point that still allows for a really high flow will work. Or maybe diesel with a little water thrown in from the ram air. Could keep temps down. Anyways, you would have to somehow hook the seat up to not get over heated from the heat transfer while also making sure the frame is adjusted to allow for it to be a part of the ram air intake system. Its so small that I doubt there would be no cutting involved. Anyways, hope it helps :)
@brkbtjunkie
@brkbtjunkie 10 ай бұрын
That’s crazy the jets can run on diesel?
@TheColorsInGreyLife
@TheColorsInGreyLife 10 ай бұрын
@@brkbtjunkie yeah he had a video of the trust produced a long time ago put out of it running on biodiesel, most jets can run on a variety of fuels, I suggested butane because of how cleanly it burns but also it's low heat output. 3 exhausts into one would be hard to maintain the given structure & material performance in this application thanks to the given heat concentration point over the given surface area. But if you "crimp" it, put channels there it spreads the given total load over a larger surface area, forces the faster center gas flow, channel area flows, and in between stator like areas of slower boundary layer gas flows to mix and spread outwards into the bell end. But it's not just enough to spread the load, I suggested he needed to oil cool & lubricate the point like a turbo does to help it survive. Anyways, an after burner system after the nozzle point like I suggested in my Dyson fan jet engine video I made about integza video might work but it's not exactly going to allow for the efficient recapture the the expanding gases into the bell end without it being extended or having another bell end inside of the original. Also he could use a little lever on the steering wheel to allow for fine control of the total movement of the gimble and thrust vector of the system, however it would be needed to have a switch that has it swap sides during oversteer situations that allows for a recenter effect of thrust to be applied. Also an air premix manifold ring from the ram air into a Venturi system where the fuel is injected would help with better total air & fuel mixing for a better burn. Pressures in the nozzle can be helped out with gimble extension but since it's only a given total size of outright heat and thrust as a maximum then you can figure out the total nozzle size from some basic online math you could Google. Making it not necessary to worry about the total pressure constant at the nozzle point before the bell end. Be wary of laminar flows bouncing off of each other and not allowing for exhaust stream combining, I saw it on my feed for a water laminar stream & at that heat it can start acting similarly. However the channels & stators in the nozzle point will help break this up but produce a back pressure that kind of sucks, so allowing for a slight turbulence effect from the exhaust combining points will help, essentially a pipe slightly bigger, one slightly higher up, & another with some dimpling-ish to help but flare it out like a horn and it should combine just fine. But maybe he just wants to do 2 on the sides instead and get basic rudder controls or something? I mean he did say it was already starting to get too fast to control.

Hi, great content again. I’m wondering if the stability/handling improves when you apply trust vectoring? It could be as simple as the steering nozzle like a jetski and connected to the steering wheel and turnig opposite from the steering motion. I think it should be more stable. For instance, when you steer a left corner the nozzles swing out to the right to counteract the oversteering. Good luck, and i am looking out for further content.

I think some sort of aero-steering rudder system would help more and not lead to instability at high speed like vectoring thrust - which should be parallel to the tires at all times imo but ianae
@WarpedYT
@WarpedYT 10 ай бұрын
I thought about doing that on multiple occasions, problem is that is not only an engineering nightmare but I think it would be much less predictable and very unstable... Only because you have tires touching the road, That extra friction in the straight direction helps you dig into a turn. Now thrust vectoring in the air is a completely different story cuz it's very PID, sort of like sailing a boat when you want to turn, but in the case of a land-based vehicle you want to turn instantly You don't want to have to start turning now to hit a corner 30meters ahead, If you make one miscalculation you don't have enough distance to correct and BAMM!

I could totally do it I just don't know if it's worth it unless maybe sort of like the hovercraft works, where you use thrust vectoring as steering, but that hovercraft is scary scary to drive, Even Rich rebuilds and his crew wouldn't touch it after I left, they wrapped up their video right there and then and shipped it to me lbvs

@@WarpedYT yes. I'm talking about train vs pit video. It was full of fake cgi effects. I saw the video where you put 7 jet engines on a red car, and everything in this video looked real. I know you put 10 jet engines on that blue car, but I'm pretty sure, that results were enhanced with cgi. What do you have to say about that? And what is your opinion on his whole video? It looks really fake to me. You are the person who loves science, and I'm pretty sure that you know the laws of physics. Please, be honest.

@@jansuszynski3052 ahh yes, That video. Okay well I can tell you that I worked on three segments in that video, the train, the tank versus school buses, and jet car. As for the train in the pit, because of the weather And having a plane to catch, I wasn't there the next day where the train was launched into the pit... I can't comment as to what they did after I left. But I can tell you 100% for certain, the tank versus the school buses was 100% real, and the jet car did in fact go 600', I was very upset about the jet car, I designed and set that car up to actually take flight, that car should have went at least 1,500 ft before we had to land it, But because of the weather, I lost 2 days and I was rushing to get the car launched the day of their shoot, It all came down to a slight adjustment in the elevator linkage, if I would have taken five extra minutes to make that adjustment, the car would have actually flew and not crashed... If you want more details I'm glad to give them to you But that's a summary.

I am a jet engine mechanic and they work best with uninterrupted airflow and ram effect is necessary to achieve optimal performance and mounted behind the seat they might compressor stall without enough air. You can implement ducting directly into the airstream. Please be careful, these engines have not seen there full potential and I don't think you want to know what that is. Salt flats maybe, but great work that is a great achievement already! Be safe!

It would be cool if you could hook the engines to the steering and slightly turn them in the opposite direction of the front wheels like a jet ski does. Also add a cowling air flow feed to the jet engines from the sides since the seat blocks air flow. To me, it looks like you had more fun on the two stroke with the ability to play. Going in a straight line fast has its pluses, but shifter carts can go above 120 mph on a two stroke. At that speed, you are laying down. The upright seating is generally around 60 mph top speed. Anyway, both look fun.

I know it would add a bunch of complexity to the project but if you found a way to couple the engines to the steering, so they vectored toward the outside of your turns, it might boost your cornering ability. Whatever though. This was a completely sick build. Nice work.

A couple ideas my non-expert self thought of when watching this 1) what if you enclosed the system with smooth paneling to make it more aerodynamic, and installed S-ducts much like those on the Lockheed Tristar to redirect airflow directly to the engines? Right now the seat disrupts the flow of already moving air, and installing an S-Duct to the intakes could improve air flow 2) Have you considered the idea of designing a turbofan engine? If you installed one or two turbofans in place of those 3 turbojets, you could greatly increase fuel efficiency
