I have a theory that he is there only because he's basically an "easy mode" character. Especially in early levels. This build is a demo that was shown on a public event and which people played after all.

I had this version of the game it was a Japanese demo the character voice overs were different from the original 🔥

Doubt you had this specific version of the game, but you're right about this. One JSR demo was indeed still featuring the Japanese voice acting, the same way as it can be heard here.

I was subscribed to dreamcast magazine every month a new issue, and a new demo games in one disc this was included, but is wasn't this stage it was shibuya bus terminal with the same voice characters but shorter

@@soundeeffekkz3629 Yes, i know what you are talking about here, and it is true. The official sega dreamcast magazine did feature it, but it's not the same version that was shown in the video. Last year, this version, which was showcased on E3, was leaked online. It has a lot of stuff from that demo, and much more. Like being able to choose a level other than Shibuya Terminal. And that is the specific version showed here.

This prototype is public. I got in on the website called "sega dreamcast info games preservation". Or you can get it on hidden palace, since it's easier. It's April 28 prototype

Player character sounds are used in the japanese release.

I assume they use different voices cuz they didn't have the English voiceovers finished yet.But I'm not to sure about why Onishima and the other policeman's voices are different, maybe after this demo they found better people to voice them?
