On Feb 1957 a Northeast Airlines Electra tried taking off from LGA headed to Miami in a snowstorm but due to pilot error and poor deicing never attained enough lift to clear trees on Rikers Island and Crashed near the prison. There were survivors and many prisoners helped the victims and a bunch had sentences reduced or were released.

How pilots Know if the de-icing is done well ? in the past a plane crashed because of bad deicing
@TheAndokid18 жыл бұрын
You're talking about when that U.S. Airways aircraft attempted to take off from LGA in a snow storm and killed 27 people right
@tunkunrunk8 жыл бұрын
Jason Andolina there's another one , pilots didn't have required training to fly in icing conditions , the plane was ATR42
@TheAndokid18 жыл бұрын
+tecknos africa oh idk about that on I only heard of the one that I mentioned at LGA
@TheAndokid18 жыл бұрын
+tecknos africa and it doesn't make sense that those pilots weren't qualified to fly in a storm cause I thought the airline wouldn't give pilots the job if they aren't qualified to fly in shitty weather
@jasminejohnston63937 жыл бұрын
tecknos africa well the de-icing system sure has changed since a certain plane went down due to bad de-icing jobs, and they feel every inch of the wings and tail of the plane to make sure they haven't missed a spot, then they spray the plane with this green goo (anti-icing fluid) that prevents ice buildup for one flight

On 1,56 min (??) Is that noise normal at lower revs? No worn bearing or anything?
@BXgek3 жыл бұрын
Sorry....1,46 min.
@RMR13 жыл бұрын
It's normal. The "buzz saw" sound you're hearing are the shock waves produced as the engine spools up and its fan blades surpass the speed of sound -- in other words, multiple small-scale sonic booms in rapid succession. The blades in turbo-fan engines -- such as those in the A321 -- spin that fast when maximum thrust is set for takeoff and the initial climb.

Tha's scary! If the plane had to abort the take off it may not be able to slow down in time and slide..?
@jasonr.95203 жыл бұрын
Once it hits V1 there is no stopping no matter the conditions. The plane has to climb or everyone will explode in a fireball at the end of the runway because there isn't enough runway to stop in time. The only way is up!
