We've for sure got gluttony (constantly eating), wrath (enjoying slaughtering demons), pride ("I'm the original dick!") and Lust (Banging "this Virtue chick" one time)... Not sure we see greed (IIUC, separate from gluttony because it's the obsession with wealth), envy or sloth (I don't see much Adam envies, and even if he's a massive douchebag and a psychopathic sadist, he doesn't come off as lazy, at least not here.

Everyone in this show, except for Charlie’s group, treats souls as if their time on earth is the only time that matters as far as judgement goes. Once you’ve gotten into Heaven or Hell, that’s it. “Hell is forever”, it doesn’t matter how much you improve, there is no redemption. But if Hell is forever, then so is Heaven- once you’re in, it doesn’t matter how badly you behave, you’ll never get kicked out. “What about Lucifer?” For one thing, Lucifer wasn’t a human soul, he was an Angel of pretty high ranking if the six wings he has in the story are any indication. He didn’t fall through sin, but through disobedience and causing problems.

I think one of my favorite things about this series is that my musical theater brain just imagines all these songs on stage. Like "Happy Day in Hell" is an amazing opening number, and I can imagine the Hotel sign lighting up at the very end of the song as a sort of "show title" similar to how the "Book of Mormon" sign lowers at the end of "Hello!".

First time viewer, new subscriber! Thanks for taking on this superb, beautiful, heart-touching show! Musically, there are two songs per episode, and they range from "Yeah, that's good" to "PLAYLIST! NOW!" In RE: Adam, there's a German word: Backpfeifengesicht. It essentially means "a face that lacks only a fist." So, yeah. What's impressive is that's he's arguably the *runner up* for Just The Worst in terms of characterization. All I will say is wait for Ep. 4. And buckle up.

(on mobile) One of the things I’m wondering if it’s intentional about the song choices in this ep is to establish the variety for first time watchers. Like lbr, a lot of people get some secondhand embarrassment or cringe when something they didn’t expect to be a musical turns out to be… a musical. So with Charlie’s opening those types might expect very showtune-y or essentially Disney Adult kind of music but when you get this more metal number in there, it’s like “oh wait, okay, so they’re not just sticking to the Disney Princess thing with Charlie singing…” like it subverts an expectation a lot of people have about musical shows? Like Steven Universe for example had some variety but not nearly as much as Hazbin Hotel has over the course of 8 episodes. I love the show but I guess I’m dying it feels like they all belong together? Like there’s a certain way they’re unified that’s different from how Hazbin Hotel’s songs are. The three pilot songs DID all have a sort of Disney-ish vibe, Alastor’s reprise playing the role of a Disney Villain song and it worked! Though I think it sets an expectation that only Charlie would sing and the rest of the songs would have that Disney vibe. But I like how they had two drastically different styles right from episode 1 of this season and I wonder if it was intentional to give a taste of that variety the rest of the season has.

I feel like Adam is that perfect garbage person who’s actually a credible threat that makes for a good villain. It’s a delicate balance to hit a sweet spot of perfectly hateable and credible threat for a “love to hate” villain. Like it’s from the big things like committing genocide yearly as entertainment ffs, to the petty like when I saw someone reacting to his air guitar like “omg what a douche” which is I think made funnier/douchier when he manifests a guitar and can ACTUALLY play it, he’s got a cool but threatening design where I think the “heavenly” aspects gives him an uncanny or unsettling vibe (which always brings the question “wait that’s an ANGEL?”) There is literally nothing redeemable about him, the show doesn’t try to pretend there is, and that’s resulted in a pretty well crafted villain.

Another thing I like to point out to you Mr. Luchrised is that if you pay attention to what Lute said before Adam starts singing. She said that Exorcist Angels only kill Earthborn-Sinners and leave Charlie and other Hell-born demons (like Imps, Hellhounds, Succubus...) alone. Meaning that Blitzo, Loona, Millie, Moxxie, even Stolas and Verosika from Helluva Boss are safe from the Exorcist Angels. But Sinner Demons like Niffty, Husk (Husker's real name), Angel Dust and even Alastor are prime targets for the Exorcist Angels because they are Earthborn Sinners. I am not sure if you pay attention to that detail because you were too busy defending Charlie from Lute's threats and insults. Just to make sure if you heard it. Oh and P.S : Katie Killjoy is now voiced by Brandon Rogers, the same guy who voices Blitzo. The reason is that Katie Killjoy is based on Brandon Rogers persona called Bryce Tankthrust. The main difference between Heavenborns, "Winners" and "Sinners" and Hellborns is the souls in Hell keep the red blood of humans whilst the angels whether Heavenborns or "Winners" bleed gold like the Greek gods, hinting that much like in Classical Judeo-Christian Mythology the old gods of the Pagans were actually angels and fallen angels.

I ended up rewatching Friends on the Other Side and the similarities were amazing (in like a reference sorta way not a rip off sorta way). So the meeting had two things to it, to show that adam is so horrid, and that he wouldnt agree, because two at the start where charlie signed that paper it was what she agreed to because idk if ot was blank or what but she signed it without reading it. I didn't see if anyone commented but... Actually Lucifer wasn't the bad guy, and yeah Lillith was the first woman, made from dust, just as Adam... And Eve was created by Adam's Rib, as said in... well everywhere, they just don't say the "story of hell" coz isn't good for relegion lol

Damn, you are picking up a lot just in the first episode. I look forward to all your views of the coming episodes, including episode 5 when my favorite character ever appears. xD And you have NO IDEA. Practically every song in this show is a masterpiece. I can't stop listening to all the songs. And Adam's personality makes sense. He was the first man...he's all toxic masculinity. Also, they don't talk about what keeps you in hell or heaven. They assume once you are there, you are there forever. So sure you have to be good to get into Heaven, once your in Heaven...you can't possibly do any wrong.

I love your passion for the opening. I agree it's great. I would like to point out, however, that it's not a fresh take. The Lillith story is well-established as being an apocryphal Biblical story. Meaning it was part of the lore that got left on the cutting room floor when the stories were all assembled into the Bible. And a lot of the current well-known interpretation, such as Lucifer and Satan being the same being, and having been the snake who tempted Eve are all assumptions (basically head canon) not explicitly in the text. As such, Lucifer as a tragic figure has been explored in many works of fiction AND explorations of the story by real Biblical scholars. The tv show Lucifer, based on the DC comics interpretation, is an excellent exploration of this. Good Omens is another book/show that explores the idea of this without explicitly being about Lucifer himself, but rather one of the main characters is the demon who took serpent form to tempt Eve.

To take some of the edge off, here's A little non spoiler fact about Lucifer: because some renditions of the Bible described Lucifer as one of the most beautiful angels in heaven, one of the elements Vivzie used for her design is porcelain dolls. It's a ways off, but given he became my surprise favorite character for the series, I can't wait to see how you react to Lulu

Тhe cherubs were thrown out because they killed a man who could have been redeemed during his lifetime. Adam, in turn, has the divine right to kill sinners. All that matters is what happens on Earth. Angels can be considered aliens who only care about their colony. What is the meaning of your redemption after death? You have already received punishment, and now you are trying to redeem yourself AFTER punishment? Do not make me laugh. All this allows Adam to remain in heaven(although during his lifetime he was physically unable to sin), and no sinner is allowed to go to heaven. And we haven’t even talked about the helborns yet, who were simply born in hell, but they still count as "filthy demons"
