@Jetting Julia - Great vlog, as usual, and congrats on your new rotation schedule coming up in July. Did you see that fellow employee and DFW-based FA Kacey recently released a vlog stating that she, too, has reached that same seniority point? So now the two of you will only have three months of crazy during the year and nine months of being able to breathe! LOL!

At 52, I so much enjoy living vicariously through your videos. It's hectic yet exciting. I've been a RN x 31 yrs & am currently disabled. As much as I wish I had been a flight attendant, the reward of making such a pivotal difference as a nurse in so many families' lives I wouldn't change, but yet I wish I could travel as you do.❤

Thank you for the explanation on your scheduling. I travel a lot for my job, and I am fascinated by the logistics of air travel. I have a idea about freight logistics since I sometimes have to deal with it, but passenger travel is very different. Thank you for giving us insight into it. But the best part of your videos is Luna, especially when she greets you after a trip with a toy. My dog, Gustav, always greets me very excitedly with a toy every time I return home from a trip. There is nothing more welcoming than that.

Thanks Julia for covering all of these questions. You explained your reserve scheduling so well. It was fascinating to me. Overall, I like the fact that you could be going to any destination, short haul or long haul. I guess it must cause some stress or anxiety sometimes but the chance of getting a great trip(or trips) is quite appealing to me. Do you know if crew scheduling is done completely through a computer program or are there humans involved in the process? It is almost mind-boggling to me of what a complex process it is to schedule all of the airline's flight attendants for one month. 🙃. Take care, say hi to Eric and of course, give Miss Luna some hugs. 👍🤗❤✈🙏🌎
@JettingJulia2 жыл бұрын
Thank you John, the scheduling still fascinates me as well even though I’ve been in the industry for a few years 😂✈️ I believe our intial schedules are created by computer software but when we get called for a trip or need to speak to someone mid trip for various reasons we call a crew scheduler - who is a real physical person! Lol we have many of them. They work so hard! ✈️

I'm not the one who commented on the last video about airport standby, but at my airline they are eight hours! I love tracking what I work each month, so this was a really cool video. I am still on reserve with my airline and April was busy for us too. I worked 99 hours! I always think it's funny if passengers hear us talking in the galley about the hours that we've worked because they don't seem like that much compared to a "regular job," but all of those extra duty hours really add up. Thanks for sharing, Julia! And I love your nail color!

Alternatively do you have to reschedule your appointments? Just curious. Jennifer and Duncan I

I loved the video. It answered so many questions. I wonder if the reason you can't be in the lounges in uniform is because alcohol is served and it people could assume you were drinking. As a paramedic, we could not be in places where alcohol was served while we were in uniform, just for that reason.

The phone background picture of Luna is awesome, I did something similar when my dog was alive. one question about reserve that can get interesting i would think would be is there an opt in type of thing to play nice with your airline that you are willing to be called on your day off if its to replace crew that is going to time out(due to sleep requirements, or does this apply only to pilots). I think this would fall in line to what you called operational necessity. Finally i remember going to LGA once and find it to be a very undesirable airport, is the feeling the same from a crew perspective? Thanks to you(and Stella) I understand what standby, turns and deadheading is. I'd be bummed on missing out on that Hawaii trip too.

A question please. You're on airport reserve and you get called for a three day trip to let's say, HNL because a FA is held up in traffic. This time they don't make it and you get to go (yay!). Eventually the traffic clears and the original FA arrives at the airport but obviously their scheduled flight has left. What do they do now for the next three days? Love your content, it's really interesting. And Luna is just adorable!

Hi. A couple questions about window shades. Why are the window shades always closed during boarding and take off? Why do so few people actually open the shades during the flight? I prefer the aisle, and always hope the person sitting at the window likes the shade up. Usually they don’t. Not complaining. I could easily choose a window seat. Safe travels!

@bionicsjw2 жыл бұрын
With my airline you either held a line or you were on reserve. There was no one month of reserve and one month of holding a line. Also, if you flew international your seniority was different than domestic. I could hold my pick of great lines domestically, but international F/As Iwas barely off reserve.
