Beyblade X just blows my mind because it is the prime example of big companies actually listening to the fans and getting good results. The end of Burst, the main complaint in Japan was that the Beys were too clunky, complex, and barely bursted, which was, y'know, the WHOLE BLOODY POINT OF THAT ERA OF BEYBLADE. And the main complaint in America was that they legit felt like little plastic simple spinny tops for babies. And guess what. BOTH SIDES LISTENED. Beys now only have 3 parts, very lightweight compared to the 60-70 gram Burst beys, and they added the X-Line so now you have two bullet-speed metal spinners crashing into each other. Of course they're gonna burst now. In America, beys now have the same quality as in Japan, making the game much more fun for all ages. And now, more people are falling in love with Beyblade than ever. Veterans are returning, newcomers are arriving, and publicity is through the roof. I really hope other companies learn from the success of Beyblade X. LISTENING TO THE FANS WORKS.

Ratchets affects height, weight, burstability, and WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION. People keep forgetting that ratchets help with beyblade balance, 5-60's help top heavy blades to keep balance, same as 7-60 (this is why its good for a thick def blade like crest, and for top heavy blades like dragoon, WT, and blackshell)
@HaiTharImDavid3 ай бұрын
YES I keep seeing people forget this. While it might feel like nothing in our hands it's makes a difference on the bey. 1-60 is a good example of a ratchet that can be used for unbalanced movement/weight distribution or balancing an unbalanced blade.

Hi! I'm from a village from Poland - and in my school no one was able to buy original beyblades - so we built our own - from bicycle sprockets and screws :) We tied a string around the screw and the drive was to throw it. The bigger and heavier the gear the better! we "played" with it during breaks at school and generally sometimes someone got hit with it, usually in the leg, but sometimes in the head. It often ended with some wounds and blood. It was the real "golden era" of Beyblade for me :)

I lost my grandfather around 2 years ago in december. Your part about "the golden age" made me burst in tears. My parents always spoilt me early on and grew to distaste toys in general ( i grew out of it later on , dont worry ) I got into beyblade and my grandpa always snuck me after class to buy knock offs bey because we couldnt afford the real ones. I remember he had bought me an original libra because i begged for it once , he fixed a bunch of launchers i broke and even made a makeshift bey stadium for me. I didnt know where my bey went , his moped has been sold , my grandma still despises him and my parents consider him "just" a worker and not a succesfull person. If youre reading this , drop your phone and just live in the moment , breathe it in , the cringyness , the small stuff , the toys you were afraid of being too grown up to play , the friends you distanced from because they didnt grow. One day itll all end I miss him

Kind of awkward perhaps to say this, but I also lost my grandpa 2 years ago, on January. As a kid my (also now deceased) mom would buy me knock off beys because we also couldn't afford the real ones. The first time she did, and we were living with our grandparents at the time, my grandpa was furious at her, but for a reason I didn't expect: he wanted one too so that he could play with me. So the next day she bought another knock off, and every time I wanted a new bey because they were dirt cheap, my mom always had to buy 2. Those memories are really precious, and now I'm thinking of getting back into Beyblade with this iteration.

The best bey i had was an illegally moded fake twisted tempo that broke 2 pegasus', truth be told if i had to get original beys i prob wouldnt be as invested back then. Here's to our future hobby
@critespranberry88723 ай бұрын
Something that really has me interested in this gen is that bey construction actually matters, and that's gonna be a huge pull for the older crowd. It was a common joke both as a kid and years later on that the only important parts were the performance tip and the contact point (The blade, fusion wheel, w/e) everything else was for aesthetic. That is not the case in X. The blades affect how you hit the bey, the ratchet affects its defense and lifespan essentially, and the bit affects spin pattern in, as you said, *predictable* ways. Adding even a new ratchet changes your X bey, where as your metal fusion bey would do the exact same thing regardless of what energy wheel or spin track you used. Hell the performance tip really was the most important piece. The predictable customizability where your piece choice actually matters is what will get your TCG players and tabletop nerds in general into this. I actually am building a collection to introduce to my local game store to hopefully start a more hardcore tournament scene up here in Western Washington XD
@LunarPurin3 ай бұрын
I think by far my favorite thing about X is that for the first time in history, TT and Hasbro are ACTUALLY ON PAR It massively increases the competetive scene's ease of access, and not to mention the launchers being the best they've ever been, the beyblades looking amazing, and the sheer intensity of the battles.

7:19 Jake forgot about lower weight distribution (aka just heavier ratchets which is why 5-60 is so popular and 7-60 is really promising). Also while a bit more niche 1-60 has 2 popular purposes that it serves for more agro combos that being it can balance out unbalanced blades and when KO’d it’s really good at knocking itself back into the stadium meaning it lowers the amount of points your opponent gets from wins. These are Ratchet secrets Jake doesn’t want you to know

Beyblade has celebrated the franchise's 25th anniversary. Seeing this much popularity is more than the previous generations with the playerbase getting bigger and bigger! This is to show that a simple game mechanic while adding new gimmicks, strategy-based customization, collectible value, and a dedicated playerbase, show that Beyblade is not just a game that will last as a fad, but a hobby that has been tested by time.
@gabrielbumanglag33033 ай бұрын
The Ratchet BTW, determines the height, and where the burst gimmick is located (unlike in Burst which is located in the Layer part). It's important in customization because the bey should withstand low hits to avoid losing by a Burst Finish given that this generation of beys tend to tilt in lower angles.

History would repeat itself twice over with that same cousin giving me my first Burst bey, Xcalius X2, and recently my first X bey, Sword Dran. I can't say for certain if Beyblade X is the final form of the icononic Japanese spinning top, But it comes pretty dang close. Also, I absolutely loved the ending message. It gave me a deeper sense of understanding why folks my age think the way they do, and enjoy the things we enjoy. Hearing that message further solidified my drive(car pun intended) for collecting kid's toys from my youth. For ratchets, there’s 3 things you’re mainly looking for in them, burst resistance, height, and weight. Something like 7-60 is the heaviest ratchet, and while it may not be the heaviest ratchet, it is heavy which is good for attack and defense. Something like 9 sided ratchets will have higher burst resistance because they’re much rounder, however they’re also lighter so they’re not as good for defense and attack but you don’t have to worry about bursting. Higher heights are also useful despite what was said, some things such as Tyranno Beat are great at hitting down so you want them higher than your opponent on 70/80 height ratchets. Higher stamina types can also sit on top of the shorter ones, however higher center of mass makes it so you have less pure stamina. Some other things like LAD and escaping pockets are important, 9-60 is very round which lets it spin longer when the bey can no longer keep itself upright so it spins more smoothly. 1-60 is also unbalanced and almost oval shaped which allows beys to smack themselves out of the pockets and come back in instead of being koed, 1-60 can also be used to balance tune combos.

As someone who has hovered around beyblade for 10+ years and dipped out juust as burst had it’s last line to then return to X and through Hasbro of all things, yeah it’s wild how well X has taken off and how good it is generally. The Anime/Manga is the closest we’ve seen since early burst to a series that treats the game more like a sport than a save the world adventure. The game itself has taken the best aspects of each previous generation and created something that fulfills the nostalgia of older players while also adding a new element that creates hype and also hooks in new audiences. And the means that have been taken at least early on to open the game up not only to kids but adults who have been fans of various hobbies to show how seriously it can be taken is really nice. Like it’s so good that there is a local environment in my city when I’d barely been able to see one for the last 5-6 years I had tried beyblade, and it’s next to a fighting game venue that has also slowly taken an interest in it too. I really hope it keeps up and at least expands to the point where we can have a proper world, national, or regional tournament again.

As someone who grew up with the original Beyblades, I remember the thrill of those early battles and how intense they felt, especially with the occasional Chinese knockoff adding a bit more “spice” to the game. But after getting back into Beyblade from Burst through the Dynamite Battle (DB) series, I started noticing a pattern that took away some of that initial excitement. Beyblade has increasingly felt more like a cash grab than something designed purely for fun. With every new era, the previous ones become obsolete-not just in terms of parts, but even launchers and stadiums. At first, it was fun to collect new Beys and try out the latest gimmicks. But over time, it became clear that Takara Tomy’s strategy was to continuously release more attachments and accessories, often in expensive sets that include unwanted colours or Beys just to drive up the cost. Not to mention it is almost every month a new bey will come, or special sets ready for pre-order. We just can't keep up! The launcher situation is the same: no matter how high-end your launcher is, a new one with extra features is always just around the corner. Now with Beyblade X, they've introduced new rules, gear, and even more specialized stadiums, quickly making the older generations feel irrelevant. It's only been around a year since Beyblade X launched, and they’re already pushing another new stadium. Now, I stopped collecting because the direction feels too commercially driven. While I get that it's their strategy, I’m glad to have recognized it and taken a step back from the endless cycle - IMHO.

The bumps on a ratchet can be hit by other beys, so the shape can influence how easy it is for an opposing blade to catch and push. 1, 3, and 9 sided ratchets are really round, 5 and 7 sided ratchets are thick and bulky, and 2 and 4 sided ratchets are really square. The more square it is, the easier it is to be pushed, where rounder ratchets are easier to deflect enemy blades. The height dictates how tall your bey is. A tall bey gainst a lower bey, you might be able to avoid ratchet contact (which can lead to bursting), or it can expose the ratchet for contact. There are 3 heights currently; 60, 70, and 80. If you're an attack or balance type, it's always safe to run a short height ratchet. As for defense and stamina, I don't really know too much to define that meta.

The end of this video is wonderful. Nostalgia got me into Beyblade X, but the love of this being so fresh is easily the best part of why I'm staying in it. In a world of jacked up pokemon and MTG cards, this is a fantastic affordable replacement.

I think you misunderstood TT’s stance on the limited list. It was only intended for a 1 on 1 format where each player only uses one bey. This is the format for the early rounds of Japan tournaments. The standard 3 on 3 format wasn’t intended to be used with the limited list. Furthermore the limited list was tested for use in one trial tournament in June and then subsequently it was decided that the list would not be implemented.

Beyblade X is so cool and fun, the high speed battles are a delight to watch and I just hope that it keeps on growing! Hopefully Takara Tommy will get defense Beyblades right and a couple of more fun gimmicks I hope the anime starts picking up because it's the worst part of this generation right now 🙏🏻

For burst, stamina is pretty boring cuz there’s only two drivers really worth using without clauses, however it is far from an overwhelming type. A skilled attack user can easily beat out the stamina types

I recently got into Beyblade X as well, and have been lucky enough to have friends who are willing to play with me, and it’s truly been so much fun and brought me back to my childhood when I’d play with the Metal Fight beys. Absolutely amazing video as Always Jett :)

13:15 that was only true for the hasbro stadiums. In Takara stadiums mfb has a pretty healthy meta (especially limited format) with attack types being quite successful

I’ve been a huge beyblade fan for a good chunk of my life, from the plastic gen era all the way to the metal fight era, though when the burst era arrived that’s sort of where I lost interest, mainly cause the beys didn’t look that appealing to me like they once did, so when It was finally over and X began to be going through, my interest suddenly began to grow again, and before I knew it, in the past two months I’ve collected over 22 X beys, as well as some old metal fight beys, so yeah my Beyblade obsession has definitely kicked back in, and welcoming it with open arms, LET IT RIP !!!

The Metal Fusion era ABSOLUTELY allowed high mobility builds with extreme punch ! The only issue is that they simply did not have the winrate so doing such builds was not worth it if you wanted to go for the win when balance and heavy defense beys would roll you. You would have ton of fun with an opponent that really was in to test the power tho and I also got some finger injuries on this era. But I agree the new design is amazing for this and Im so excited

Ratchets work with Stability, Hight and Burst resistance All the ratchets until now are called by their "contact points" and then by their hight. So, for example, if you have a 1-60 ratchet, you have a ratchet with 1 main contact point and 6 millimeters of hight, what will make the bey shorter, and a Lot unbalanced, because of the unique contact point it does have. But, if you do use a 5-80 ratchet, you do have a ratchet with 5 contact points and 8 millimeters of hight. In Beyblade X, has I said, ratchets work also with different hights, so, you can costumize your Bey with ratchets of different hights, so your Bey will interact differently with the opponent, depending if it's at the same level, higher or lower than it. Every Inch counts on Beyblade X. We also have the Burst gimmick in Beyblade X. So, it works this way: the less contact points it have, the easiest it is to the Burst. The opposite its also true: the more contact points it does have, the hard it is to burst, because, if it has more contact points it does have more probably to get Burst. A similar thing happens with the hight of the ratchet: the shorter it is, the easiest to burst, the taller it is, the harder to burst. That happens because the ratchet is more able to get hit in it if it is in a higher position. That also happens in the opposite way. Lower hight, less able to get hit in it. The ratchet Illinuc referred its 9-60, so, it has 9 contact points and 6 millimeters of hight, so it will be harder to Burst because if does have More contact points. Also, this ratchet is a bit different: 3 of the 9 points are a bit more pronounced and the other 6 are a lot less pronounced than the previous ones, what makes the rathet a lot more rounder and in this case, smaller than the other ones, making it harder to get hit by other Beyblades. Because of that, this ratchet is really usable in the competitive. Now you choose what ratchet to use. But one thing is known: more than know how the pieces work, it's to real test it in Real Life. Test Test And test Again! And has always, have fun!
@benjamincameron34273 ай бұрын
Ratchets help determine weight distribution and contact points. It also can determine how burstable a bey is. For instance 2-60 is a really easy to burst ratchet compared to something like 5-60. That being said, the alteration to the performance right now is very minuscule beyond just really small adjustments.

Dude! You absolutely sold me on Beyblade again! I remember having a couple beys when I was like 12, there were tournaments and stuff, but I kind of got bored. And now of all times, when I’m almost 24, I have this sudden urge for this stuff to be popular again here, but it’s not, with only a small local community, which is pretty toxic(

Cute video! I've been playing since they came out when I was a kid and I feel just as good about X as I did about the original. I thought Burst was going to kill the series with how badly Hasbro effed up, but its a huge relief to see the game popular and good again. Definitely living a second or third golden era of bey
