The frustration you feel about being “dragged along” by the game is sorta what the game is exactly about. The frustration you feel is the same frustration that John feels as he’s being strung along by the characters of the game. But regardless, the frustration does not stop John from doing what he must to help his family. However, it’s easy to miss this when you’re on your phone for most of the most important conversations in the game.

The explanation in Red Dead 2 for no one else other than John being picked up by the government was because everyone else ran away. Saidie said she was going to South America, and Charles said he was moving to Canada. Everyone else either pretty much disappeared or didn't do enough crime for the government to care about. Plus, the government knew John was the most accessible person they could get ahold of.

So to give you more context Jettro, at the end of the epilogue for RDR2 (I think after you 100% the game) Abigail will imply that she's pregnant. Though the child was stillborn and died somewhere between the end of the epilogue and the start of this game. Also, the people that took Abigail and Jack were the Pinkertons. John riding out to kill Micah put them back on his trail. Which is that scene with the two agents at the end locating him. Those are the same agents you see in the first cutscene of this game. One more thing about the stranger in the top hat. There's something very off and mysterious about him. He's present in RDR2 but you never quite land your eyes on him. I highly recommend doing his encounters whenever possible.

A quick tip on the duels, the crosshairs shrink and you hit the button at the smallest size to increase your bar on the bottom right. The bar also increases a bit more depending on where you’re targeting. So you don’t want to spam it but you don’t want to be slow either.

When dueling: The corsair is pulsing from big to small. If you time your shots to when it is smaller the meter will fill more than if you time it with when its bigger. Your goal is to fill your meter more than the enemy do. Took me so long to get the dueling.
