More than 2 decades later, this powerful music video still brings a tear to my eye. I think this was the song that made me a Jewel fan. I first saw the music video playing in a doctor's waiting room and was so moved by it, that after some months and many phone calls, I found someone kind enough to send me a VHS tape containing the music video!

It does seem that way, but I think it has more to do with selective memory. There was a lot of dumb music back then to, and there is a lot of good music nowadays, its just not as popular, check out Regina Spektor for example.

My hunt is finally over. Been searching for this song for more than a decade now. I had bought a collection of 'all female' playlist for 20 bucks then (early 2000s) and this song was one among those class hit list of that era. But I somehow lost the dvd and had been trying to recover all the songs I had in it. Sadly, the only thing I had with me of this particular song was the word 'Jewel' and some scenes from the video vividly in my memory for years but without any music to it which made it almost impossible for me to ever find it. I was very very young when I first heard of it and couldn't get a line of the song in my head for some odd reason. Hell, didn't even know 'Jewel' was the singer or the song while looking up for this video. But now with this master piece I've finally completed my lost playlist recovery. I'm at peace now.

The symbolism with war is truly deep.... At first, it's hard for me to connect the song with war.... Hmm.... But after some thought, I've come to realize that the song is about allowing love to take over ---- even if it will hurt us.... The same way that we should let love rule us when we go to war --- we fight for our loved ones so much, that we're willing to be broken just to protect the people we love and the ideals that we believe in.

I use to listen to this song in repeat mode back in 2000's. I was listening today to JRE podcast with Jewel and had to paused it to come and watch this video bringing me back immediately to those days when I use to have fantasy about her. Ronald, nice words! But... In my book, Jewel is the best among all of them. Jewel's voice is very angelic! I personally can listen to Jewel all day, where as the others you mentioned, well, I like only a few of theirs tunes. Dolly has her original version of I Will Always Love You - I mean the first version, that one is awesome! But for purity, beauty, crispness, and just beautiful sound, Jewel wins! always!
