Very helpful, I would love to see an update, and to see what we do next if pollination was successful ❤

I’m so happy you found this useful, and in apologize for not responding earlier (i took a short break from KZbin to focus on school) the recent update is that I’ve pollinated 3 different varieties of jewel orchids (some were self pollination and some were crossed) and have stored the seeds. Now i just need to figure out the best way to germinate them! I hope you also had luck!

@@plantyofthoughts2763 hi! No problem at all. I hope school is going great. I was able to get to the point where I got seed pods and I didn’t know what to do after so I left them and eventually I started seeing browning inside and thought maybe it’s making seeds. I left it longer. Then eventually I checked again and the seed pods were all dust-like. It all just crumbled so easily. I think it miscarried or something? I don’t know.

@@plantyofthoughts2763 Hi! How did you end up germinating them? Your video is great by the way.

This video was absolutely great!! Your information was very on point and well delivered! I really hope you are gonna do one like this on Hoyas since they can be tricky too! Anyway I hope you’ll keep making content!

This veido is great! I was wondering if you could freeze the pollen (like you do for anthuriums). I want to try cross pollinating two jewels but their respective flowers might not have the right timing.

My jewel oechid did this by itself I think because two flower spikes were intertwined so they held each other up and now that I look at the dried up flowers one has a seed pod 😂😂 well what do I do now

Such a helpful video! Been looking for this for such a long time☺️❤️ so can you self pollinate jewel orchids or did you pollinate two seperate specimens? Thank you for the video!!
@plantyofthoughts27633 жыл бұрын
Hello thank you so much for your comment! Yes self pollination is possible! I self pollinated for the sake of this video because i didn’t have any other jewel orchids with developed flowers. Since this video was posted I’ve already started to see minimal enlargement of the ovule so I’m tentatively thinking that i was successful!

@@plantyofthoughts2763 if its succesful will you make a video about the development of the flower to the seeds and then the process of planting them?😍🌱
@plantyofthoughts27633 жыл бұрын
@@little.leafling3909 Yes for sure! My plan is to attempt to germinate them in two ways. 1. in vitro with a gel based sterile media and 2. in a more at home method :)
