LOL... my GF and I were hitching and got a ride from Katherine to Alice Springs in one. You climb up into that cabin and you'll get vertigo if you don't like heights.... those babies are seriously big... and wide... and loooong. Long stretches of road were still dirt roads and very narrow. To give you an idea, when a car with or without caravan comes the other way, it is expected to get off the road completely - all wheels . The road train won't get half off the road at that speed. Should another road train come the other way, both drivers slow down which allows them both to go half off the road. Once past, your driving blind for a while because of the thick, red dust. I also learned what an eight-can drive is or a twelve-can drive. I can't imagine anyone here knowing what that means 😜

@@ricklee5431 I got to play with the big fellas a few months back when we toured around Broken Hill, Cobar, Bourke, Brewarrina and Walgett. Roads where all you can see are straight lines, the horizon, and the heat off the tarmac. Got to overtake a few on the Kidman Way. Its an adrenaline rush when you get up beside them trying to overtake.

This is so cool. I’m a viewer from Australia. On the map it looks pretty much to scale 1:1. The distance that you’ve traveled on the map looks legit and I can confirm after you zoomed out on the map looking at the state boarders. It’s pretty impressive. The area you look to be in is rural NSW, in the south west corner of the state close to the Victoria border.

SCS should contact Rob and do an Australian Truck Sim alongside him, which could include NZ and Indonesian and Malaysian maps in the future, because Trucks are the lifeblood of this part of the world, and so many Aussies and SE Asians play these sims. Plus, proper road trains, sometimes as much as 10 trailers, cross the Nullabor with future map updates etc etc. I know i'd certainly buy it.

This mod is sic! When you mentioned the kangaroo sign I thought it would be cool if they had them crossing. When the livestock popped up, that was really cool and made me wonder even more about kangaroos, and when one actually crossed that was super sic!! Props to mod maker, they went above and beyond. I watched your train dlc vid and the contrast between that $25+ dlc (don't remember exact price) and this $3 mod is just leagues apart. It's just kind of an interesting thing to think about.

Every road train I've ever driven was 100km/h, it's the policy of SOME companies to restrict the speed to 90, but it's not law.

I live in outback QLD, Mt Isa. Big mining town. It's rarer to see a single trailer semi lol. 90% of the trucks coming through town are road trains. Anyway, nice gameplay. Mod is spot on!

Pretty good representation of how things look out that way vegetation wise. Only thing missing is the really orange dirt/dust. Driving at night out west is quite the adventure. Especially around dusk time, the roos are a nightmare.

Great stuff as always, Jeff. Managed to get the RHD version of the RTA KW T908 truck working by including the ATS and ETS packs (including both versions of accessories - just for more options) in the mod folder and activated in the mod manager. You need both activated otherwise the fifth wheel disappears. If you want to add internal or external accessories you have to have an LHD cab selected first - once you’ve selected all of you accessories you can switch back to a RHD cab before confirming your purchase - trying to add accessories to the RHD cab causes CTD. Seems to be working fine so far. I have had to turn off advanced coupling though

I drive road trains in Australia, I drive off road and on road from Townsville to Darwin. I spend up to 10 days away from home living in the truck. I typically carry approximately 75 tonnes of payload on my trailers

Just a bit of advice man, speed is key. On those dirt roads you need a fair bit of speed so you dont get bogged down and i kinda know this first hand because my grandad used to have a T909 and it was tough as nails but it bogged down just outside of perth and he was pulling 185 tonnes and we had to leave two trailers behind so remember on the straights you need to keep centre and keep speed above 50mph

@@shaql3408 nah Aussie traffic is a lot different to USA traffic. We have very few American cars on Australian roads. Pretty much all you see in the outback is various Toyota’s and other Japanese and Australian cars.

@@shaql3408 yeah they are definitely around. I've owned 3 American cars here in Australia, but the traffic on our roads looks nothing like the USA. Around Australian cities something like 1 in 20 cars you see would be American. Maybe even less. The further you get out of town, the less you see. In the USA they are patriotic and you see American cars everywhere.
