Dangote is only trying to monopplise the oil and gas sector bcs he built refinery. Was pinnacle not existing before he built his refinery? Why didn't he tell the world or Nigerians that the petrol that are been sold in the market are low quality before now?. Please, he has done enough with his cement and he should kindly not repeat same with his refinery.

Jide this marketers are lying they cannot import same quality petrol to Nigeria at a cheaper price, the platt price at which Dangote sell is an international quoted price, so whether a refinery is in Asia, America or Nigeria, the price is the same in Dollar for the same petrol quality , infact Dangote price is discounted for local buyer. The only way imported petrol will be cheaper is if you import the cheapest quality to Nigeria. What I don’t understand is why was it in the PIA law that you can only import or produce Euro V standard in Nigeria, it is the most expensive, in US we have 3 grades at the pump, Regular, mid grade and premium, Euro V is the premium and most expensive, what we have been importing before is standard which is 25%-40 cheaper than premium petrol. Most people actually buy standard which is the lowest grade in America, only people with luxury cars buy the premium. Unfortunately we don’t have that different standard in our petrol in Nigeria, is just one grade Govt should protect Dangote and all Nigeria refineries from importation. The dispute in pricing between Dangote and marketers is just #50. The benefit of Dangote is more than #50 for Nigeria, not importing will eliminate the need for dollar to import petrol and will over time make Naira stronger which will eventually reduce the price for petrol, because Dangote price is international price and won’t change much but if Naira appreciates, the price of petrol will reduce. Importing is what kill all our manufacturing companies in Nigeria in the 70’s and the 80’s, we used to manufacture almost 90% of the products we eat and consume in Nigeria, they kill all those industries because of import, they all die and we are wondering why there are few good paying job in the country. STOP the import, protect this emerging industries, the price will eventually come down, Dangote refinery hold the key to Nigeria economic wellbeing. Reason why countries with refineries import is because sometimes you may have a refinery in another country closer to certain parts of your country than your next refinery, for example Canadian refineries are closer to some US states or markets, so to reduce transportation cost, they import from Canada.

God bless you for this spotlight. I wonder why Jide kept calling Nigerians crude Lamboginni! Lambo, what? And the government can not fix its refinery. The Nigerian Government and the so-called NNPC should be ashamed of themselves.

Why is no one talking about Nigerian owned refinery? Is Dangote making money for Nigeria or for himself? Dangote wants monopoly of the market and to have 200million Nigerians as his customers. Let's face the real things. If Nigeria owns her own refinery the price of petrol will be cheap locally. It is a shame that Nigerians are not clamoring for a Nigerian refinery but for a private one. It is a shame!!!

What I will say is, Nigeria is a very frustrating environment to invest... Simple! How are we going to attract foreign investors in all this nonsenses going around. The FG should just rise to the occasion and do what's best for the country and investment. We keep talking of desire to bring down dollars bla bla bla... How does importation helps in that when we have a refinery like that... This is even frustrating to me as a reader myself, not to talk of the investors themselves 🇳🇬 God Bless Nigeria 🇳🇬

If the case is about Dangote not being able to compete on price, it is his problem. He should have done sufficient risk analysis and stop complaining. If Dangote is refining at a quality beyond what is required by Nigerian market at higher cost, it is also his problem. Any cheaper petrol that is not substandard IS WHAT NIGERIANs need now, so Dangote should be sensitive to the suffering of the people. Having said that, if anyone is importing substandard petrol into Nigeria, then, the appropriate authority must do their job, otherwise, it would be negligence. It is even strange that it's Dangote pushing for that. It will be unfair for NMDPRA to have driven the man so hard to produce at such high quality only to be allowing other players to dump dirty petrol here. Crude prices are fixed internationally for a reason, I don't think you can save money by buying heavy and sour crude grades and not pay for it when it comes to refining.

It is perception. Nigerians/Social media experts have said corruption is embedded in NNPC and Nigeria hence, Nigerian business mogul Dangote came into the industry with no prior knowledge and only paid consultants and Engineers to fix the refinery. Obviously some of these analysis were not stressed to him. It may be in a document but, Oga could not have read all the documents and do the analysis
