In this lesson we shall be taking a look at some more rhythm guitar examples of the legendary Rock guitarist, the late Edward Van Halen. This lesson looks at an example of Ed's playing during the 80's "Van Hagar" period, looking at the deceptively demanding "Cabo Wabo" from the 1988 album "OU812". Edward Van Halen is with out a doubt the most important guitarist post Jimi Hendrix, and we continue to celebrate his immeasurable contribution to guitar here on Six String Alliance.

SO THAT modulation sound is due to the 12 string...i was using flange but i guess chorus would be better/more accurate

At the prechorus time 16:10 you are talking about how watching the live video he is clearing has his hands around the 4th and 5th Fret. You didn't say what chord it is. I've tried to mimic your hand position. It does not sound correct at all. The same with the g# sharp chord. How are you forming them?

Hi Christian, I just watched the section, and yes I do say the chord name, I state its and E5/A, so I'm playing 4th fret G string and 5th fret B string with an open A string.The other chord with the G# in the route is an E/G#. @@SixStringAlliance Oh, Hi Jamie. There's a bit more of a slide going into the high riff at 30 sec, but tbh I think I'm basing it on a live version. Your doing a cracking job there. Must have had my 'wine ears' on too that night. My apologies. It's great you play the thing up front. It's a pain to hear a detailed breakdown to find out It's an inaccurate rendition, as a lot do.
