@Robstafarian5 жыл бұрын
Dan's recent refret of Red suggests that me may not have technical knowledge with regard to selecting fret size and shape. Do you mean nut materials or substantial differences in nut construction? Mick and Dan would have to avail themselves of an experienced luthier to do the latter subject justice (which is not to mention Emmett Chapman's patented fret Rails® and Flaps™ adjustable nut). By the way, the correct term is “vibrato” (as opposed to “tremolo”) bridge.

hi guys! just ordered back the JHS AT+ ( well a 50 buck clone which I had a while ago...); back then it was all touch sensiness, still is, but bought also back the DOD Looking Glass FOR the same thing: more attack to the note, cause im into strat jazzyness and too much spongy feel leads me to too much bending....so I want kinda sturdy sound with my 9-40 strings ( tuned octave low!)..........., not that the DOD and the AT+ arent sensy! The Pedals really affect the way Im playin, and I can hear the JHS AT+ fine darkish tone and nice EQ right from the start of this Pedal Show, so there! "piper till the end"

Fender and Vox just make such a good pairing. I run a 68 Custom Princeton and an AC15C1 in a pair and they both fill in gaps that the other one leaves. The Princeton pumps out much more mids and bass through a 10" speaker and the AC15 handles all the chimey high end through a 12".

Love my Deja Vibe (cream edition). Out of all of the vibes I've tried/owned this one has the broadest range for tones. Some others seem to just have sweet spots and tend to get super dark when the rate or depth knobs are down low. It also accents the "throb" nicely when cranked up, some others don't have the liquid/lopsided texture as much as just a phasery "whump." Lots of good vibes out there, I just keep coming back to the DV.

You guys need to do another amp show soon. You’ve been testing out some tasty ones recently like the Big Chopper and the Matchless. The Zep stuff... zep1. How many more times. You shook me. 2 songs there with the controversial mk1 or MK2 model. Jimmy had a gold mk2 box in those early days. 2 have surfaced since with MK1 guts inside. Very quickly moved on to the grey mk2 box we associate him with by the time they were promoting zep 1 live. BBC sessions contains some fuzz mainly a Rotosound 3 knob MK3 on “The girl I love ...” and he’s also seen using it live in France by 69. You can find the live show on KZbin. After that he sacked it off by zep 2 and moved on with the Marshalls and les Paul as oppose to the supro and Dragon tele he used on zep 1. It’s also up for debate whether there’s fuzz on zep 2. “Bring it on home sounds a bit too fuzzy for my liking in preference to a Marshall or cranked supro :) stop by the DAM forum there’s some interesting stuff to be seen. Personally don’t hear it on the lemon song. The overdubs on bring it on home you can hear his early grey Vox wah. But I still hear a fuzz riff especially on the opening riff. I’ve had a original supa mk2 67 model which depending on the amp didn’t overally compress either. It was very open and aggressive sounding.
@MrTonysoundsgood5 жыл бұрын
I believe Page used the fuzz in the studio on double guitar parts. So on if you listen to some of the harder tracks the primary guitar tone you are hearing is that small amp dirty-but-not-crazy sound but layered with it is the fuzzed tone underneath to add dimension. Also, Mick on the Zoso saying "I don't know what to do with that sound" is a great example of pedals not being "good" or "bad", but being an extension of your playing. Not all pedals fit all players and that is okay. I can't make Rat or Fuzz Factory pedals fit into my playing no matter how hard I try but damn do they sound brilliant with other players.

Happy to see the Dejavibe here, it’s ordered now! I really think the holy grail of paired amp tones is a super reverb style circuit and ac30 style. Though lately I’ve been really digging pairing by Victoria bassman and Dr. Z remedy (take on a plexi but with 4 6v6s)...man alive, mega sound. You guys should get a bassman/big tweed style amp in. My Victoria was actually custom ordered by them to have 212 tone tubby speakers and a spring reverb tank, so it’s like a hybrid of a bassman and tweed twin with reverb. Serious business

"I don't mind that..." I feel the same way about the comp side of the Instant Lo-Fi Junky... Absurd amount of squash on that thing. (And not a huge fan of how it wrecks the transients.) Hey Mick, how are you powering the DejaVibe Mk2 on your board? Mike Fuller states, that it definitely needs 18V but it only draws 35mA. The manual recommends 250mA plus though ... because otherwise it sounds significantly thinner and weaker. I sacrificed two isolated 9V/400mA ports on my Cioks DC10Link and bridged them with the appropriate cable to 18V/400mA (which is ok, because I don’t really need them all, because there’s another DC5 linked to it ... :). Long story short ... sounds awesome, but what’s your experience with powering it?

First off , don't plug in FUZZES , into Matchless amps, they suck at taking a fuzz, just like Dr Z. Terrible front end shrill . Fuzzes are particular. Old Marshalls and Fenders , maybe a Hiwatt 50 like Gilmour , Laney Supergroup like Iommi. But NO matchless crap . They are a Nashville stupid amp of choice, they have shitty gain like a Dr Z , and don't take fuzzes without harsh Norelco Razor tone

"Zoso" is sometimes pronounced "Zofo". In truth, anything goes because it's not really a word, and therefore unpronounceable. It was Page's adaptation of runic writing pertaining to his astrological sign (whatever that may be). Zep's fourth album was effectively untitled. The cover featured four different runic-looking symbols, each representing a member of the band. "Zoso" was Page's.
