In Late 1990s America, a lot of teens and older kids looked at Adam and Drew as the "cool dads" (even before they were dads) of Radio/MTV (back when radio was a big deal and MTV was a REALLY big deal). Yes, the 70s definitely had an androgynous aesthetic in terms of hair. Men and women could be indistinguishable from the back (see David Cassidy). By the way Adam, David Cassidy’s hairstyle was called a “shag”. I notice you discuss it at length on A&D. The shag was the most popular hairstyle of the early/mid 70s. I had one as a young child circa 1974.

I think 70s hair probably caused the glam movement to happen when it did.
