That video has me all excited. I have a great lake near me and a 2025 Tucktec pro folding kayak ordered and coming soon. Odell lake, Oregon.

Do you have a mono leader attached to that yellow braided line?
@rem_fishing5 ай бұрын
I use flouro, but yeah I always use a leader, 10-12 pound.

Nice video! I live in Md and visited the FLX 3 times in the past couple years with no success with lake trout. I did manage some nice smallies, hopefully next trip!

Thank you! Yeah it's a really awesome region, I love it. Smallies are cool too I love those dudes. I hope you can find some Lakers too if you decide to try them again next time.

I didn’t see anything on your screen. No hump, or cover down there. What were you targeting?
@rem_fishing5 ай бұрын
There is a huge point nearby that has a creek flowing in. But I'm not targeting any specific structure, just certain depth ranges on the ledges. They are usually roaming this general area in the fall, many of them spawn near here and it's also the location where they stock them. Salmon and Browns use the creek to spawn and Lakers will follow them in sometimes if the water is high enough, I imagine they are eating the eggs.

FLX jigger here as well (kayak and 14 mirrocraft). Were you able to target the suspended fish on the drop shot, or were you just fishing on the bottom?
@rem_fishing Жыл бұрын
Hey Matthew! I was just fishing the bottom with that.
@matthewbeckwith663 Жыл бұрын
@@rem_fishing oh ok, that makes most sense. Seems like simple vertical retrieve up through the water column is suffice to get to get the suspended fish to chase your lure. I'm trying to make a heavy inline spinner bait for this approach. Just drop it down and crank it up. I'm a tackle builder and fly tier, so it's just another excuse to make something 😂
@rem_fishing Жыл бұрын
Nice. I'd be curious to know how well that works. Seems like even if it was pretty heavy it would take a while to sink, if the blade was spinning. I bet they'd chase it up though!
@matthewbeckwith663 Жыл бұрын
@@rem_fishingyou're right regarding the slower sink rate. From my kayak I fish 2-3 oz jigs to compensate for the drift as my kayak doesn't have pedals or a motor. But I try to get away with as light as possible. I made an inline spinner with a 2 oz tungsten weight, which I'm going to try on a slower drift day.

Where are you fishing? I jig for em up in the finger lakes region of NY but never tried drop shotting for em - nice stuff!
