@@CaptainCaterpillars That's true. I actually have had a problem with that in my past - I've been working very hard to LISTEN and speak in my turn rather than talking over people when having conversations. The habit actually comes from my childhood, as well, when the only way to *ever get a word in* was to interrupt 😜! Though it is not the most respectful way she should be making herself heard, I don't have a problem with Jill pushing her thoughts out at this point in her life. She spent the first 23/24 years of her life quietly watching (with that *creepy* gaze) either her father or her husband speak and only getting a word in if they allowed it. It seems like Derick understands that. I'm sure as she matures she'll find that balance. Right now - thanks to her truly bizarre upbringing, even at 30-ish, Jill has the emotional and psychological development of a 15 year old. But, again, I do agree with you...I hope she and Derick grow in their relationship to the point that she doesn't feel she has to interject all the time in order to be heard.

Happy for this little family. It’s about time that Jimbob Duggar got called out for what he is. He DID NOT act like a Christian hiding what Josh did. Because they have been programmed to let the men always do the talking, make the decisions etc...Jimbob and Michelle have raised these girls to completely submit to their husbands w/o any mind of their own. She is talking about the drama that ensued when she and Derrick quit Counting On. Jim Bob had allegedly never paid any of the kids, even the adult kids for their time on the show. The show profited hugely from Jill and Derrick's courtship, wedding, Israel's birth and then Samuel's birth. Samuel was born with some medical issues and needed special care for a few days. Derrick wanted TLC to pay for his hospital bill, since they had made so much money off his family and Jill and Derrick didn't receive a dime. That didn't work out so Jill and Derrick walked away. Jill has also turned away from some of her family's rules. Such as wearing pants, not just skirts and dresses, she got a nose ring, she and Derrick will have adult beverages when they go out on dates sometimes. They also enrolled Israel into public school. So as you can see they have set themselves up quite differently than Jill's family, but because they are choosing their own way her family isn't too supportive of them anymore and there is blatant animosity between Jim Bob and Derrick. I think Jill and Derrick have done a wonderful job of finding who they are and choosing the path they feel the Lord is leading them.

I am happy that Derick seems to be a supportive husband, but he has no say in her having a voice. That is not his place. Nobody can "let" you speak your own mind. You have to just take that initiative. And Jill is certainly doing that in this video.

I’m so happy for Jill. Just think had she stayed on the show, she probably be forced to have another child she and her husband probably wouldn’t be ready for like Jessa doing just to keep up with the image of the show. Good for Jill for getting her and her kids away from that mess.

Her name is Jill Dillard...they’ve been married for like 5 years...
@mygirldarby3 жыл бұрын
Just because a woman is married doesn't mean she must take her husband's name. In some countries it is illegal for a woman to change her name to the husband's name. Spain comes to mind. Amd their are many other countries in which the woman retains her name. I assume Jill took her husband's name because she was expected to, but she also has ownership of her birth name, Jill Duggar. It really is pretty stupid that some cultures make the women give up their birth name. She owns both Jill Duggar and Jill Dillard and can go by either. I went back to using my birth name because I could never get used to my name change after I got married. My husband is fully in support of my choice, and I am glad he is, but I would have done it anyway. I'm much happier having my birth name back. I think it ois a great loss and can even cause identity issues to change your name like that. Women often talk about losing themselves once they are married and changing their name could be at the rroot of it for some women.

U like this new Jill. Shes always been such a people pleaser. Now she's aware of it and is taken care of herself and her own family. Derrick can get a little mean-spirited and messy, I'm glad he let Jill take the lead on this interview. It sounds much better coming from her. She had to somewhat leave her family to grow and get to know herself. That has to hurt. I reeeally want to know the details though.

She's not allowed to move out of the house unless she's married out. Very strange for her to be in her 30s and still stay in her childhood bedroom. Plus without a college education, I'm not sure how she'd pay for her own place. It sucks that Jim Bob is against higher education for his daughters. Jana is beautiful and I have no doubt things will work out for her in the end.

Every family's members grew up playing a specific role in their family. When one member chooses a different role, it upsets the family dynamic. Suddenly, everyone else tries their hardest to pull that person back in to the dysfunction. It takes great strength for both Jill and Derrick to NOT allow the extended families to guilt them back into their former roles. Stay strong!
