We caught up with Jillian "HellCat" Rossi at the 2016 Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show in Miami. Pin striping (pinstriping) is the application of a very thin line of paint or other material called a pin stripe, and is generally used for decoration. Freehand pin stripers use a specialty brush known as a pinstriping brush.

This young lady “has the talent, as I describe it as GOD given.” I never had the patience nor drive. Now at 77 I have the patience, no drive due to multiple back surgeries,Not much excuse, but, balance is off due to the back. I applauded this young lady, we need more like her, and their kind of strippers/signers! Much blessing wished for her and gobs and gobs of financial success and accolades!!., BRAVO,!!!.,

She is super fast. Most don’t paint this fast. It looks like she is holding the brush with the blue update down. She is really good .

This is cool . I met Jillian at a class by Jeff Styles . She took her art talents and worked on her striping skills and got good real fast. Her work is perfect. She can also do a Rat Fink that looks like a decal [ only kind of better with her own touches]. She taught me how to make a smooth sharp corner 90 degrees. She has been featured in some bike mags. Hey Jillian post some stuff on PINHEADLOUNGE . I see your account but no pics. This is cool . Oh I already said that.

I have unsteady hands as well. But my line work is pretty good in art and I keep it neat. I call it being being shaky in the right direction.

using Q tips with rubbing alchohol works good for cleaning smudges early on, once it dries a bit, then mineral spirits.. I like terpentine to thin with, it gives the paint more of a creamy consistancy. Also I find if you let your eye look where the line is going, rather than where the brush actually is, things seem to go easier. In my opinion holding the brush like a pencil, is the way to go, because your wrist is basically a natural pivot hinge, and you can stay off the work area, using your forearm to brace.
@1-shotslinger108
@1-shotslinger108 8 жыл бұрын
The brush is not like a pencil. { Jillian taught me this] . You drag the brush across the work . Don't pencil the brush.
@randy1ization

everyone has to find thier own prefered way to hold the brush. theres no right or wrong way if it works for you.

Liz Raulfs with your attitude and talent you should be good for at least $200 grand a year, if you get to the good shows ( when they start again) I’d be glad to coach you ,like I did with Monte Roach. I won’t be doing seminars until I sell the Von Dutch Bus project..

She's good.... She'hehehe's very good! The tempo and consistency is AWEsome! I love watching these master make it look like childs play. Then you spent 1000 dollars on brushes and paint and can't do ONE line straight haha. I guess practice makes Pro!

It's so hard to actually put a name on a design. Ya never really know what it is until you're done. For me I just start connecting lines and making curves and scrolls and I just add until I like the look.

I'm super new, and ordered a big brush...too big that drooped like the one in the video. A different woman used a smaller brush that holds it's shape sideways, that looks easier for me. The droopy brush was too unfamiliar.

Next time someone asks you how long it took you to pinstripe the tank say it took four years and fifteen minutes. So basically four years of practice to do it in 15 minutes.

For what it’s capable of with the correct practice and color selection, should be about $500.00 ! Nothing else performs even close, most of the copies are a joke,and very poorly made, I have my brushes made by the oldest brushmakersvinnJapan.
