Bianca Cox Because sadly she’s been brainwashed her entire life to believe that the choice of leaving your husband does not even exist. It’s not even an option for her, and her own parents, siblings, and the Duggars ensure that she is reminded of that on a daily basis. She’s essentially been raised in a cult from birth that has drilled into her brain that she has no autonomy, that she only exists to please the men in her life, she has no real world skills or preparedness, and on top of everything she has always been taught that anything wrong that the men in her life do is HER fault. She 100% has been made to believe that Josh’s cheating, and God only know what other shenanigans, that have taken place during her marriage were because of her. SHE didn’t please him enough. SHE wasn’t “joyfully available” 🤮 enough. If only SHE had done x,y,z this would have never happened. These are all the teachings of Bill Gothard, which her parents abided by as well as the Duggars. She doesn’t know any other way of life, and her confidence and self worth has been stomped down to such an extreme extent her entire life that there is very little, if any, of it left. On the outside looking in, leaving may seem like an easy choice to make, but sadly Anna doesn’t even see that as a possibility. Every single person in her life has failed her and set her up for a lifetime of guilt and shame. She sees no other option, and the men in her life controlling her ensure that it stays that way. This was the life that was chosen for her via her own father and Jim Bob. My heart breaks for her and her kids.

I never believed Michelle's soft spoken Mother Theresa act. You can't have that much control over 20 human beings without a forceful hand and a lot of yelling and strict discipline.. A part of their brainwashing is to make the kids think it's their idea to behave and fall in line. As far as Jim Bob goes, he's got a God complex going on where his children worship everything he says and teaches them to never second guess him. He's one shifty dude

Well said! I agree, you can’t have that much extreme control over 19 kids by acting passive and speaking in childish whispers. There are major scare tactics going on behind closed doors. I hate when someone says “they seem so nice”, everyone SEEMS nice. It’s very easy to act friendly in public but be completely different, actually it’s an epidemic among humans.

Sometimes i like to compare the Duggars to the Radfords (britains biggest family. They have a vlog on youtube and are currently isolating with 19 kids age 2mnths to 26?). Its a LOT more rowdy. Both sets of kids are well behaved and polite and nice. But you can tell the Radfords are a normal family - not too strict and a bit chaotic.

I am genuinely disgusted by the treatment of children in reality shows. Supposedly, they are not saving for anything. They are just spending as little as possible so that they will have enough left over to support themselves. Michelle was also cited for implying that Anna Duggar wasn't 'joyfully available' enough, hence Josh's Ashley-Madison account scandal and his alleged encounter with a strip club dancer. And while I'd stopped watching the show long before the two were expecting their first child, I read that Anna's mother wasn't present for the birth but Michelle Duggar WAS in the delivery room. I'm very fond of my mother-in-law but I would never consent to her being present at such an intimate time with me in a vulnerable (and butt-naked) state. Those TLC filming contracts create way too much compromise and intrusion into privacy.

I bet it's about money with TLC. If they negotiate with all those adults separately, they run the risk of one sibling taking X dollars and a different sibling getting Y dollars and then the next sibling is like, 'I deserve more than that sibling because I am on camera more". Then someone could say, "But you gave her 3x what I agreed to. If it's not equal, I'm out." TLC acted in the way that was most profitable. One dude. One contract. Less $$ to pay out.

Organizations like “A Minor Consideration” was created by a former child actor who was hardly making any money & working insane hours. And the biggest problem (like Jim Bob is doing) was the parents were able to get & spend all the money on themselves. So when they became an adult, they had zero money, whatsoever, to show for all the years they worked so hard. They fought hard to put these laws into place to protect kids. Now they desperately need to work just as hard to create the same laws to protect children of reality shows. Set up with trusts so the parents can’t spend the money. And this law needs to be made that apply to every state.
@debbienpeters
@debbienpeters 4 жыл бұрын
Heidi Blake in general, child laws are all over the place. Parents have a lot more control over the kids than most people understand. It’s a weird thing to say without backup, but most laws involving children seem to protect the parents more than the kids. My parents stole thousands from me. But the law favors them, cause they claim they spent all this money on me, ect so by law they can legally take money from me without consequences. In my case, my parents gave money to my brother that was legally mine, but used laws to justify them having control over my money, that was suppose to pay for college, for themselves and my brother, leaving me basically penniless and homeless when I was 18.

On the show, the young kids would sit for interviews. Under child labor laws would that be allowed? If child labor laws were put in place protecting kids on television, would there be limits on how much footage of the kids they could use in the final show put on tv? The family has been in the public eye for so long that it was only a matter of time before their past caught up with them in the investigation against Josh and hidden information coming to light. This family has talked so much about hidden sin and coming clean about hidden sin, but what about the sins of Josh that were not public knowledge until recently, or the sins of Jim Bob not paying his children? I feel for Derrick because he wants to confront JB but he is married to a Duggar. Jill seems to be seeing things through another person's (Derrick's) eyes and it appears she's had an awakening. Still, I don't know if Jill's parents would ever speak to her again if her husband actually went through with a book. I'm from Arkansas and I think we need to make a few new rules about these kids on reality shows. Someone like Derrick will have to bring that about since I guess the Duggars are our only TLC "celebrities". OR, maybe TLC should be held accountable for not insuring that these children get paid, I dunno. I think Derrick is a smart guy who will do the right thing but, dang it, he needs help. He shouldn't have to be the lone David against that Goliath empire. Some of the others should stand with him for the sake of the little kids still at home.

If you get involved with the local legislature, don't forget the exploited kids of KZbin. Their parents are making far more money off of them then reality tv kids, and have absolutely no oversight as they are filmed in their own homes by their parents. The need also goes well beyond payment. These kids need basic rights regarding schooling, working hours and access to mandated reporters, etc. Katie maintains that Derrick somehow made it through TLC's clutches without signing so much as an NDA, which is not true of the others. I don't think anyone can help him with risking their own legal position. He needs the help of lawyers and legislators to unravel this mess.

The people of Arkansas have a responsibility to enact these laws regardless of whether Derrick writes the book. A book alone will not protect anyone. There is enough questionable behavior to warrant changes to child labor laws, documentary laws, trust laws, and an investigation into tax evasion and other crimes. Even if they are found innocent, the fact that the questions are there warrant changing the statutes.

I didn't discover the Duggers until Derick was courting Jill and I remember how Michelle proudly explained how the children all had their duties, how the older kids were expected to taking full responsibility for a certain amount of their younger siblings, how everyone had laundry, cooking, dishes and so on duties....by the time she finished she was left with some home schooling and to keep having more babies for her older girls to take care of. I'm sorry, I do not care for her or Jim Bob. You know, having as many babies as possible was "normal* a 100 years ago because the family needed .more children to work the crops etc. I doubt seriously that God wanted people to procreate to crowd even more the already over crowded world. Mom's could stay home with their children 50 years ago but no longer....it now takes both parents to make a living. I have some select thoughts and beliefs where those two are concerned but I best keep it to myself 😎

Carolyn Diedrich I think the reason why they started doing TV was to pay for their kids. As in, there is no way that one person’s salary could support that many people.

My only opinion: This is what happens when you believe you need to push out so many kids as possible and don't actually pay attention to what's happening to them.

I agree that how the Duggar’s are raising their children is ‘cult-like’ and HORRIBLE. It always amazed me how they had a tv. Show that glossed over their beliefs.

Admittedly, I'm not now nor have I ever been a Christian. But, based on everything I know, conditional and transactional love is basically the polar opposite of what Christianity is supposed to be about!

Austin, Derrick and Jeremy should write a book about the family. I'd be so down on reading it!!

You always discuss the rights of kids and the importance of their privacy. I can feel how passionate you are when you discuss this. You're one of those Mommas where all kids are yours in your heart and I think that's so sweet!

TLC should also be held accountable as well. It's awful.
