Really Funny story about this bit; A few years back, I saw Jim preform this bit live at a venue on Long Island, as he was talking about "Scott from toys", a voice shouted from the audience "I AM SCOTTY FROM TOYS", so Jim calls the guy to the front, verifies that it was Scott from toys and proceeds to finish the bit with Scott sitting next to him on the stage!!! Edit #1 Jim had somebody pour the guy a glass of beer while he sat on the stage as the story was recounted! For those wondering, the venue was the Paramount in Huntington NY

One of my favorite comedians ever. His stories, his voices, early 50s and he still runs around the stage. Just a funny dude! Love this bit!

He is brilliant! What’s wrong with cursing though?
@dariocarrasco79365 жыл бұрын
@@DopamineMVWM the idea is that sometimes a joke is funny because of the amount of cursing or the obscenity of the language. It can serve as a bit of a spice but at the same time can become a crutch whereas here it's just raw story, stage presence, and vocal inflection.

Dario Carrasco Ah I see! Yes that makes sense! Thanks!

I hadn't noticed but that's true! I usually watch for that because Drew Carry said writing two "clean, tell anywhere" jokes per day completely took his performances up a notch or ten. His reasoning is that swearing can cover for a bad joke and be funny itself, bit if someone laughs without it you know the joke itself is funny, THEN spice it up with body language, et cetera.

Or the people who thought his Qhadafi "HIYMA MA LAH" shit was the most annoying, gay-ass-shit they've ever heard in their fuckin life. I really like Jim too, but he could've cut all that shit out and it would've been just fine; that made me wince and really pissed me off that shit was so God damn gay, words can't even do it justice. Not even about racism or any shit like that, you wanna do some racist shit then whatever, just make sure it's actually funny. That was just painfully unfunny and infuriating since he clearly thought it was the best shit ever.

@@eagillum The 'no swearing' part is one of the hardest to achieve when you're a comedian that can hang with all the other top comedians...listen to all the legends of the game, the vast majority swear like sailors because swearing is funny and helps accentuate a story...try telling a story without swearing and get the same belly laughs, it's borderline impossible unless you're a master storyteller.
