Savage: "Your moustache is crooked!" Mean Gene: "Your beard is a little sideways, too, but I don't wanna get into that, I'm not gonna take personal potshots at you or anybody else, that's not my nature!"

Not only did he carry his own confetti, and throw his own confetti, what really put it over the top was that when he threw the confetti up in in the air, he would yell, "Confetti!!!", at the top of his lungs.

I don't remember him saying that. I remember his catch-phrase at the time was "Freak Out."

The ICW despite the shoddy production, had a pretty good line up of talent. Randy Savage, Leaping Lanny, Hustler Rip Rogers, Bob Roop, Pistol Pez Whatley, George Weingroff, Cowboy Bob Orton Jr., and my favorite name for a heel manager, Izzy Slapowitz.

I recall a very brief run of a young wrestler named Randy Poffo in about 75 or 76 in Detroit. It ended abruptly when Bulldog Don Kent draped his leg over the 2nd rope and sat down on it with all his weight.....It was a TV studio match....I NEED TO SEE THAT FOOTAGE JIM

I honestly don’t believe it was cocaine,I think that’s just how good Randy Savage was. Drugs is a more sensationalized reason and while I’m sure many wrestlers did them I dont think these promos was as drug fueled as we may like to think. All ppl who knew him say he lived his gimmick,he was always the “Macho Man” and if you think about it...how exactly is that character supposed to act. Macho aka loud, aggressive, hyper masculine,obnoxious...thats the character. At that time wrestler’s goal was to get butts in seats, they’re selling a product.

I hate how the replies to serious comments are always a stream of 'lol cocaine' as if doing cocaine turns anyone into the usual suspects of greatest/most intense promo guys who always get that shit. As if they could put on a professional live semi-improvised dangerous athletic show if they were all high as kites while they were working.

Learning Macho worked in Halifax, is one of the few highlights for the city I grew up in. Definitely helps offset the negative review Jim gave the city from the 90's RAW experience haha. Cornette is a true legend and encyclopedia of the business.

Lots of dad's make sacrifices for the future of their children. If that's true, he's responsible for his son becoming one of the greatest, most recognizable pro wrestlers of all time? And what, maybe 90% of the wrestlers back then were taking the same steroids, not knowing how disastrous they would turn out to be years later. I'm not much of a MM fan, but you can't deny the guy had something special.
