When I was 16, my friend took me to the hotel in Baltimore where the guys would all stay. The manager came and told us we had to leave, Bobby Eaton heard him...he walked up to him and said "No, they're staying, they're with me". Nearly 30 years later...I will never forget it. He is the best.

Its funny how as kids if you met a heal they always seem to be legit babyfaces.I had a encounter with a heal in Dallas as a small kid and he was the nicest guy, while everyone was booing at his ring entrance I was trying to tell my grandma she was wrong and what a nice guy he was.

Bill Dundee decreed his daughter was not allowed to date the wrestlers he booked then when he found out she was he ranted and raved until finding out it was Eaton and he said "Well you picked the best one" basically giving her his blessing.. That's a testament of how nice a guy he was RIP Bobby

What does it say about a man when upon his passing, you can look across the spectrum of his profession and not a single solitary person, regardless of race, gender, status, etc...no one has a bad word to say about him? That was Bobby Eaton. Not just one of the best workers of his era (or any era TBH), but maybe the single most respected wrestler of his generation. Literally...NO ONE has anything but legitimate praise for him. So RIP Bobby. In spirit you truly were beautiful. Gonna be hard to hear Corny talk about him...I'm sure it will be really emotional.

That kind of generosity and kindness is hard to find in LIFE, not just the wrestling business. He might not be on Eaton’s level, but from what I’ve heard, Daniel Bryan is a similar kind of guy

he was a true workhorse in the industry, always gave his all in the ring either as a single or a part of a tag team, i have not heard any wrestler say anything bad about him which is a true rarity in any entertainment medium and that is saying something, he also avoided given stupid gimmicks (although the Earl Robert Eaton BlueBlood run was terrible but that was a horrendous gimmick and no fault on bobby.)

Bobby really is a nice guy. I remember after a show some kid fans met him and asked for his autograph . he needed to use the bathroom, but instead he stuck around and gave those kids autographs. it started out with 3 kids, as time went by another 6 or 7 more came over and poor bobby held his bladder like a trooper. someone asked him why he didn't just go to the bathroom and he said he didn't wanna disappoint the kids.

Mick Foley confirmed this in his first book. He told about how he was riding with Bobby Eaton, and they stopped for gas. A homeless man was out there, and Bobby took him inside the store for a few minutes. Foley stayed outside, and he said a few minutes later Bobby walked back out with the homeless guy, and the guy had on a new shirt and a new bottle of booze in his hand. Foley said Bobby spoke to the man for a bit, gave him a 20 dollar bill, and shook his hand. And Foley topped off the story with "That was just the way he was."

I don't expect one quickly. Corny wears his emotions on his sleeve and with the loss of a lot of his friends and the deterioration of others lately, I am expecting it to be full of emotion and he'll most likely wait until he calms down.

My childhood and hometown hero! I grew up in Huntsville, Alabama too. Watching Bobby growing up inspired me that I could get out and too something with myself like he did. Last year I met Flair and told him that all i wanted to be was the 2nd greatest person to come outta Huntsville and thanks to Flair's podcast, I was gonna hafta settle for 3rd behind Conrad Thompson. Never missing a beat, Flair says I'm gonna be 4th if his daughter moves there. lol.

konnan really put bobby eaton over in his shoot with rf video, eaton made an upcoming konnan in wcw look good in his matches even though konnan was a nobody in american wrestling at that time, years later konnan repaid eaton by requesting eaton being put over konnan in eaton's hometown which i always thought was a class act.

I still remember a local indie guy saying that Bobby Eaton did him a favor during their match. The guy really wanted to take Bobby’s Alabama Jam and Bobby wasn’t wanting to do it because of his health. Then, during the peak of the match, Bobby leaned into him and called for the Alabama Jam. He was willing to take years off his back & hips just to make less than a hundred paying fans (and 1 local jabroni jobber) happy.
