what a curse. throat problems.. great banter with Gorilla Monsoon on the 1980's "WWF Prime Time Wrestling" on the USA Network, after "TNT" (tuesday night titans) before "Monday Night RAW." (Jim Ross/Jerry "the King" Lawler/Vince McMahon/Paul Heyman era). color commentary too (WWF Wrestling Challenge): heckled Sean Mooney (Events Center), Jameson (the nerd), maybe Lord Alfred Hayes. Don't remember the Craig De George guy. I remember Jack Tunney as the WWF's president. "Saturday Night's Main Event": it was Vinnie Mac and Jesse "the Body" Ventura (great stuff)

He didn't deserve that - it's hard to make a single person's situation a tragedy BUT the talent...the wit, the knowledge...ect etc It is a small tragedy. We were fucking blessed to have the brain in the 80's. He did it all so he knew it all and he was the best (fuck the a-hole who keeps on about Paul Heyman - bitch please!). Bobby is, was and always will be - the best manager in pro wrestling history (real life - kayfabe would be lou albano lol). It's fucked up how many of the 80's entertainers are GONE before some of the 70's and 60's ones...It's soon going to be like the 80's just disappeared. Wrestlers, actors, singers... Every month another legend. A day of tweeting by shallow celebrities and silly people who weren't even alive when these stars and legends were active...then fuck em. Gone and good riddance - kinda like how Vince does, Anywho... RIP Bobby. The 80's were magic and another bit of the magic is gone... motherfucker.

Kevin Oshiro Same thing happened to Gordon Soile near the end of his life. Though fortunately for him, the silver lining was that losing his ability to speak (or at least the ability to speak in a professional capacity) got him out of his commitment to do commentary for the disastrous “Heroes of Wrestling” debacle.

Whenever I watched matches with Gorilla and the Brain at the announcer's table, the wonderful interplay between them both was often even more entertaining than the match itself. It really was the glory days in many aspects for me, even though those matches that I watched at the time were relatively late in their careers, 1989-1991.

Heenan is the greatest of all time. His commentaries when The Undertaker first arrived got Taker over big time. 'HE IS NOT A HUMAN BEING!' everytime Taker sat up 'LOOK AT THAT!' He sounded genuinely petrified and impressed at the same time. Then they ran the angle of Heenan being scared of The Undertaker and every time his entrance music hit Heenan was hiding under the commentary table. So many people owe so much to Bobby.

So when Pillman grabbed him Bobby thought a fan had hopped the guardrail. He said had he knew it was Brian, he wouldn't have reacted like that. Brian then apologized profusely saying he didnt know Heenan had a bad neck otherwise he wouldn't have horse collared him. It was a perfect storm of 2 heels laughing it off afterwards. One of the Best Perfomances by The Brain took place in 1972 at Soldier Field in Chicago. The match was a cage match between Bruiser & Crusher vs. Blackjacks Lanza and Mulligan and The Brain was put into the cage. The referee of the match was "Jersey" Joe Wolcott. Jersey Joe got in a punch on Bobby, and Bruiiser, Crusher and the cage made a bloody mess of the Brain. Be it a work or shoot, you had to feel bad for Bobby. "What have I been saying all these years!? You humanoids...Can you see all the little Hulksters with the tears ( running down their face)! What happens now, what happens to WCW?" I'm only paraphrasing part of Heenan's call when Hogan turned heel and pro wrestling changed forever. In the '80's and '90's I was a young Humanoid who happily watched "The Brain's" great commentary.

He also said, 'It's Hogan! I always told you he was evil!', also paraphrased. Kinda gabe it up a little I have heard although I can't imagine anyone seeing a mustache-less Hogan walk to the ring and not realize he was the third man. lol

Only a handful of people truly epitomized and molded the sport of professional wrestling. I'm talking about the few we could never have done without. That the business could not have done without. Bobby Heenan is at the very top of that small group. Words cannot explain his greatness. Mr. Heenan, you quite literally changed lives for the better. May heaven treat you as well, as you treated us. Rest in Peace.....

Bobby Heenan not being able to speak seems like God's cruel joke on wrestling fans. It's a shame that so many generations of fans will be robbed of witnessing his brilliance, outside of watching WWE network.

Much respect to Jim. Bobby Heenan was an original. I grew up watching him feud with Dick The Bruiser. As I learned more about the wrestling business, I began to appreciate him that much more. Cornette is special as well. He had me in stitches with that tennis racket.

Another in my mind that belongs on a Mt Rushmore of pro wrestling. In my opinion there'd be more than 4 faces, but no doubt one of those faces either way is Bobby the brain. Seeing the clips of him in the later years I can't watch, breaks my heart.

As a wrestling fan, The Brain has always been my favorite manager. If and when I get into the wrestling business, Bobby Heenan is one of the three people I study as far as the ability to talk. The other two are Jake Roberts and Raven (Scott Levy).

Hey Jimbo... It was my great pleasure to watch Mr Heenan in the AWA aka VERNS venue... from the later 1960 ts thru the 70ts ... l did attend the old St. Paul auditorium for some wrestling shows ... And Bobby didnt miss a beat... No kidding = We always got our money's worth with him... l remember chasing him half way around the the building one night = we were yelling calling him all kinds of names = I was about 10 or 11 yrs old at the time... l had the time of my life... And back then the older crowds really thought it was real.. they were = truly upset and into it... I feel that MR. Heenan was the best at his stick in the game that I ever seen... And l was treated to some of the best entertainment in the wrestling business... IF bobby was one of your favorite = l can see why you done extremely well in your long Career... Thanks Jim.

Bobby the brain was natural comedian and commentator. Even when he was the bad guy I loved him. I can't think of another commentator that ever made me laugh as hard as the Brain.

Such a pity managing is now almost a lost art-having a manager ringside adds so many possibilities to the match, there's si much more to managing than promos, hence why wrestlers who could talk had managers, even the horsemen had JJ Dillon and they could all properly talk-it makes zero sense to be rid of managers

I remember when in the mid to late 90s we had JR and The King on one show and Bobby, Tony and Mike Tenay on the other. Some of the best commentary going head to head. I was so disappointed when Bobby left and got replaced by Madden and others. The man was a legend, great at everything he did. R.I.P. Bobby, you will be missed.

i would SERIOUSLY consider watching bobby and monsoon primetime skits , Jim! he said things that wulda been censored by todays standards. he truly was the wittiest and smartest guy in the business . Hes the brain and all people on earth are just humanoids. im proud to be a humanoid as bobby taught me how and what it is to be witty on the spot. watching his skits on primetime will probably break a rib laughing so hard. also its worth mentioning that whenever he went on tv shows for interviews , ( bill maur , bob costas, etc...) he absolutely OWNED it! he outwitted and outsmarted every host of every show he was on. so please take the time to watch sum of the stuff u said u missed out on . its worth it. ;)
