The only reason Matt always had a ceiling in WWE was because Vince favored Jeff over Matt always. Jeff always got the big title opportunities while Matt was pushed aside. He even booked Matt to lose the feud against Edge despite being the sympathetic face in that worked shoot storyline. Matt has always found singles success outside WWE because he's a brilliant mind in the business but was always held back by Vince

I'll be honest. I liked the broken stuff in Impact. A lot actually, it got me back watching after the spiral of the 5 years prior of basically all tv wrestling. But after leaving, every attempt to redo it or rehash it I just can't watch. At first I thought maybe it was too many hands trying to get it to play on WWE and expected that Hardy left to his own devices would be great but now im realizing Impact and Corrigan was probably what kept the Broken stuff under some sort of restraint

The build-up to Broken Matt Hardy on Impact Wrestling was brilliant. Matt Hardy would wrestle matches has a face for a long time but he was always known as the "other Hardy". So when Matt got a chance to compete for the IMPACT Heavyweight Championship against EC3(heel), they did a brilliant double turn in which Matt Hardy became the heel Champion and EC3 would become a face. Matt would then start calling himself "Big Money Matt" but became extremely paranoid believing management was out to strip him of his title, that was the first sign of "Broken" Matt Hardy. Then it happens, after a hard-fought match in which Hardy kept the title, Drew McIntyre cashed in his briefcase and won the title. This lead to "Broken Matt Hardy" truly being born and The Story Goes On from there.........

This match was a dumpster fire.. Bloated hurricane/Gangrel. Oh yes let's add 6 wrestlers to the match... I regretted asking for more, wish the rivalry stopped after the hardy accident...

This entire program should have been the story of an upstart picking on a legend, and the legend putting him in his place while the two come to a place of mutual respect. The respect could have been one of the things to drive a wedge between Sammy and Jericho, with Sammy turning face after a run in to save Hardy from the Inner Circle. The whole while, Sammy could have taken credit for "Breaking" Matt all over again, and it could finish with Matt thanking him in the end. Would have been massive whether online or to a live crowd.
