I don't mind "flippy shit" or (most) comedy wrestling, (I didn't mind the lollipop thing) but fuck the Joey Ryan dick suplex. Just fuck that spot. I hate it. Also I think putting a comedy wrestler like Joey Ryan in the ring with a genuine guy is fucking stupid. Joey Ryan vs. a guy like Colt Cabana or Grado is fine (hell, I'd watch either of those matches right now), but putting him against Primate and having the match be anything short of a literal mauling is fucking childish. That said, I've heard interviews with him and it seems like he actually does have respect for the business and could become a legit wrestler if he cared to put the time in, so the fact that he chooses to do this stupid gimmick is baffling.

I just went and searched Joey Ryan and this "manly parts" toss as up till now never heard of or for that matter seen it. If that is what passes as wrestling today, glad I stopped watching wrestling around 1990'. But then this "manly parts" toss makes the silly crap sold as wrestling in 1990 seem like the best of the best of classic wrestling. I was willing to accept that Corney's claim that wrestling is dead could be subjective but now I think Corney is being very objective in his proclamations.

I think Jim should check out NXT UK sometime. There's a lot less of the flippy stuff (compared to other shows), more emphasis on impact and realism, and the crowd's way more into the matches. Oh, and Walter, of course. I've never been 100% on board the hype train for Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks, and I have to be in a special mood to sit through a whole NJPW show. It's not that I don't like it, it's just a lot to take in through one sitting.

I agree, also NXT & NXTUK they have actual wrestling, they tell stories in the ring and they do in ring Physiology, and they sell. It's okay to have highspots but like 10 in one match...Just 3 is okay that goes with the match...not spot fest. Nxt and NXTuk are legit great wrestling, it has everything, techical wrestling, amature wrestling, Strong style, realism.

Bottom line, no wrestler is above the business. There is a place for comedy wrestling, but you cannot portray yourself as a comedy wrestler one day and then as a serious wrestler the next. That being said, the wrestling business is already exposed. That cat is out of the bag.

I may not agree with everything cornette says (though I usually do agree) but I do see what he means about stuff looking too choreographed. Alot of wrestling today looks too choreographed. I watch alot of old school wrestling. Today's wrestling flows better and is aesthetically pleasing but it doesn't have that old school grit that wrestling used to have. When u watched Terry funk and stan Hanson and big van Vader they looked like they were trying to kill you. I like guys today like Daniel bryan and Pete Dunn. I even like omega though he is a little overrated. Okada is the real star of those matches. Okada can slow it down and draw it out. Kenny sometimes goes into hyper mode when he doesn't need too. Osprey does it too sometimes. I just miss wrestlers like the funks, Harley race and dusty Rhodes. Larger then life personas. Wrestling doesn't have that right now outside of okada.

Jim has a point, to an extent, with some of the blatant stupidity that happens on indie wrestling; Joey Ryan's spots are embarassing, and some of the comedy stuff that PWG puts into their otherwise "legit" matchs is way over the top. But, Jim also acts like it's impossible to have an intentionally "fake" wrestling match. Kenny Omega "wrestling" a girl isn't destroying the wrestling business any more than the Harlem Globetrotters destroyed basketball, or martial arts exhibitions destroy MMA. When everyone involved goes into the match openly acknowledging that you're about to watch an *exhibition*, where Omega is going to put on a show match vs. a girl or a doll not because he wants to pretend he's fighting a girl, but because he wants to show off his (and her) skills, I don't see why that's a problem.

So relieved to hear Cornette not walking anything backwards despite his respect for Meltzer. With that being said, it is my opinion that has so much love for Meltzer because Corny was one of Meltzer's sources through the years and therefore can't very well bury Meltzer because it would make Corny look like a goof if it were to ever be confirmed that he was a source. I don’t like todays style and thus I don’t watch it. It doesn’t really bother me to expose the business or what not just because to me I think it’s pretty clear that people know what wrestling is now. That said I agree that a believable product is better to watch than what the modern guys do now but I guess I just gave up on being a fan who follows the product regularly again unfortunately. It seems wrestling as a whole has passed me by for the most part and that kinda stinks. But I don’t think the Bucks or Kenny were ever the same level of embarrassing as Joey Ryan was. The Bucks and Kenny were always more so just not my style over making me ashamed of wrestling I guess. Joey Ryan on the other hand I just never understood. For the Bucks or Kenny even if they weren’t my taste I could at least see why others may like what they do and move past it. Joey is one I can’t understand why someone could ever be a fan of. Sadly I kinda get why he did what he did because it was a way to get to a position to make some money in the ancillary of wrestling doing his goofy thing and if my choice was struggle to survive or make a comfortable living I can’t confidently say I wouldn’t do something like that too. But we now know he crashed hard and likely will never wrestle at any level to make a living again after the accusations and how big of a douche he was about handling them to boot. At least the Bucks or Kenny seem like ok people who just aren’t my style whereas Joey was clearly a prick and deserves what happened to him.

To be fair Michael Richards only went on that tirade AFTER the asshole he was screaming the n word at had been HECKLING him throughout the show and had been asked to stop multiple times. The thing is if you're at a public event like a concert wrestling match or comedy show and you're actively trying to be a trouble making sack of shit by throwing shit at the stage heckling the comedian or trying to get on the ramp or in the ring you absolutely deserve whatever happens to you weather it means other fans/security beating the fuck out of you or getting called obscene names because its your own fault that it happened.

People growing up in the 80's and 90's trash today's metal, Old school NBA fans trash today's NBA, old hip hop heads trash today's music. Same goes for today's wrestling. This all stems from people that like to think the older stuff is better, but things change, those that don't like it start to bash others that like it. I find that highly annoying. Yeah I like 2002 WWE, however things are different now and I like it. Same with music or sports.

I grew up in the 80's and 90's and music then was superior to today. However there is still good metal coming out so that's the one genera which you should not have chosen for your comment. However, facts are simply this. Some things improve over time. Some things degrade over time. To just assume things are bad now because they aren't the same is just as wrong as to assume that things are better now because they are different. And some changes are definitely NOT for the better (Music I'm looking at you).

Paul Miller I chose that genre because as a fan of grindcore, Deathcore, anything that has mainly screaming, you will get people talking shit, go to any video and read the comments and there are people talking shit.

Meanwhile, much of today's Metal lacks heart, the NBA has had so many rule changes that farting will get you a technical foul, stupid little untrained backyarders and trashbaggers think they can do what they see on TV, and many of the wrestlers coming up today do not have the same attitude about the industry to even learn how to sell or proper ring psychology. Do you understand now?

for me, omega has made up for all the shit he did with the girl and the blow up doll by having stellar match after match after match HE AND OKADA PUT ON A 60 MINUTE DRAW CLASSIC WRESTLING TODAY'S STYLE FOR FUCK'S SAKE and didn't Cornertte watch the Dominion show? the young bucks and omega are great storytellers in the ring the argument that they're not excellent wrestlers is asinine they're also big draws and are making WWE level money without ever stepping foot in WWE in 2017

Their first match was incredibly and unnecessarily long, and took like half an hour just to get to second gear. It took so long to get into, I just wasn't interested when it finally did get interesting. If anyone was the star in those matches, it was Okada, hands down. I definitely don't know about the best match ever, that is a LONG stretch.

Nothing that ever happens in Japanese Wrestling is gonna affect American Wrestling. Most fans have no idea who Omega or Okada is. Most of these people are gonna be in wheelchairs. Do high awesome spots in front of a big crowd not 500 people. Spots are fine if used well and sparingly. Have 30 mins of ballet and dancing looking shit sucks.

I like Jimmy but anyone who uses a ether spot in the 2010's in a promotion like Ring Of Honor and expects fans to buy it is seriously behind the times. What worked in 1970's Tennessee (which had its share of business exposing garbage) won't work with an audience in 2017.
