People who are called "Far-Right" and have outrageous lies and personality smears thrown at them are routinely subjected to this treatment and nobody defends their right to freedom of speech or even a basic bank account. I think that might be the issue here. Nigel did also set out to destroy the BNP when they were gaining popularity and often cites it as one of his proudest achievements. The Law of unintended consequences does apply here, I think.
