While there are some who failed due to serious personal shortcomings, most just weren’t cut out for that kind of a profession. He mentions Giant Gonzales right off the bat. Great guy but he just wasn’t wrestling material.

You could go to a match and then decide “oh let me get a 3:16 t-shirt before I leave” and then you could go around the arena to booth after booth and they had NONE in ANY sizes at HOUSE SHOWS! He was selling stuff left and right and even today you can buy a 3:16 shirt at a live show and they may or may not sell out! I don’t know anyone who was selling stuff like that.

When talking about bad wrestlers, we rarely mention the wrestlers that couldn't make it past the indies. It's always someone that got signed to a major/minor company. You still have to have skill to be signed at those levels, and the worst wrestler to get signed to WWE is still probably better than most wrestlers on the regional indie circuits. No offense to indie wrestlers, but they all have to start somewhere.

The worst wrestler I have ever seen was a guy named Judo Joe Black. Look for his match against Ken Patera from WWF Wrestling Challenge in 1985. Oh boy was this guy horrible, and Patera rightly treated him with contempt. He had no idea how to even do a basic collar and elbow tie up, and don't even get me started on his extremely laughable attempts at turnbuckle bumps. Ted Arcidi, the "World's Strongest Man" was pretty piss poor as well. Even the Ultimate Warrior knew more and did actual pro-wrestling moves better than Arcidi. And Warrior was horrible at wrestling moves other than clotheslines, slams, kicks, punches and splashes.

It's criminal what WWE did with Khali. He was a fantastic wrestler. But, he's had interviews about how he was years past his prime. He was hesitant to even join WWE and told them he couldn't perform like he used to, but they still took him because they wanted a monster. He could perform as well as any top star years ago. Dude went for spin kicks and reverse exploder suplexes when he was obviously really green. Warrior would've looked like a chump too if he tried to be good. I think Jones had potential but the dude obviously didn't want it, he started the same year as Matt Morgan and it took years before Morgan was any good. If Jones would've put in the same time, he would've got there eventually. What he didn't need was the Undertaker as a tag team partner within like 2 months of being the roster, that's massive pressure to succeed. Jones is different to me, because I can understand why WWE would sign him, he had potential. Unlike Trytan or Rob Terry.

Because he actually can perform really well. He's just not an amazing talker, and he doesn't have a good gimmick. In terms of performance, he has chops because he was a great collegiate wrestler, nowhere near on the level of Lesnar or Angle but he was damn good. Good enough to warrant WWE offering him a development contract right after he graduated. Now he's even doing MMA and doing pretty well.
