Gold dust wrestled in a diaper acting like a baby, he was under contract. That is how it works. Ask yourself when the last time you heard people confused about who might win in a match because of their wrestling ability. It was back before Vince said this is all rigged. Instead now when someone wins its about whether they should have won or not. Fiend is buried because Vince made him lose, not because Rollins defeated him. Of course its spot fests just like movie fights are silly now. We have seen the old match style for so many years it had to evolve into a spectacle to bring in enough viewers to be viable. If Cornette ran a show today it would fail financially because we already saw it years ago when we thought it was real but now everyone is in on it. Ring psychology isn't enough to hold modern viewers. Hard for anyone to get heat cause we know its an act. People tried to kill Arn for breaking Dusty's leg, you will never have that again.

Cornette is an old school type of guy, he deeply loves his style of wrestling and the wrestling business. And why i don't agree with everything he says he makes some good points on the faults of AEW, the sheer amount of dives and high risk spots, it taking ages to do a dive, no clear heels or faces making it hard to understand whats going, sloppy build up to story lines, the promos being off by some, not selling after a high impact move, cold tags, an endless amount of near falls. AEW comes across as kids play wrestling because they remember these effective spots from when they watched it but they don't have the knowledge and patience to get the build up correct so it tends to fall flat.

This right here. I always say that AEW has all of the tools to be great, but their problem is that the people who are running it have no idea what the fuck they're doing. Tony Khan has never booked anything, but now he's booking, why? The Bucks, Cody, and Omega, are all doing their own creative thing why? Why is Brandi Rhodes on my TV at all? She's a beautiful woman no doubt, but can't talk, wrestle, or act. It all just comes across as a vanity project. Now, backstage they've got Dean Malenko, Jim Ross, Arn Anderson, Medusa, Taz, and a bunch of people who know what the hell they're doing, but are basically either just onscreen characters or are just doing what? If they let some of the experienced people book it and teach these kids how to sell, sell a feud, build a match, and handle a stick, they'd be great.

He seems to hate Darby Allen but he admits he has an interesting look and admits when Allen does something cool in the ring. Cornette looks at wrestling as a viewer, he doesn't have to be understanding and make excuses for what AEW decides to show. There are no places left for guys to go learn their craft before they move on to one of the major territories. There is no way now for it come back, the late 90's and early 2000's were the golden hour before it died. Matt S No you’re right it doesn’t matter to the people profiting off those deals. But that’s only because those ratings even as low was they are can still be counted on by advertisers. As they disenfranchise older fans and younger/newer fans never come into existence those ratings will crash. The TV deals will become weaker and they’ll start wondering why. Right now gambling is being allowed into sports as a means of drawing and keeping fans interested who are losing interest. The once unthinkable right? But that vein will tap out one day. Attendance and ratings are down and it’s not because of covid or politics. They soak us for every penny if we go. They present us with a weak product on tv. ESPN and the like are horrible at broadcasting clean, concise games. We spend half the game seeing shots of the booth or the crowd or graphics or ads telling us to tune in to what we’re already watching. No you are right it’s making a fortune. Vince McMahon and his team of writers might as well have his hand up their asses, moving their mouths. Its alien, inhuman and weird. AEW is less scripted, but sometimes it really leaves a lot to be desired. That is wrestling in 2020. On a side note, sometimes Cornette just pisses me off, because a lot of Smoky Mountain Wrestling was like the worst of Memphis wrestling dogshit! Begs the question as to whether or not Cornette actually believes the things he says.

JR is no dummy. He's toting the company line. But he knows Cornette is spot on with most criticism. Most NOT all.
@EManFXW4 жыл бұрын
Exactly. I'm pretty sure he quietly agrees with most if not all of Cornette's criticism but can't really express it publicly as long as he's employed by Tony Khan so he pretty much has to put them over.

I disagree with JR. Professional Wrestling only works one way and AEW ain't it. They have their moments. Hell, they even have some talent that know what they're doing, but by and large it is not professional wrestling.
@TheRealAxelFury4 жыл бұрын
JR. You just confirmed Cornette point about the quality. I call bullshit the "changing" aspects, because when something goes downhill it is honest to say it, because it actually is: the show does not provide quality and has lack of real talent that is able to be a worker and not just gimnasts. What if i say that you simply cannot say what you think because your actual position? we understand it JR.

JR reveals the truth early...which of course Conrad glosses over to return to his painfully obvious agenda: Corny saved his money, he's an entrepreneur,....and JR isn't, so he's got to do and say what makes Tony Khan happy.

Uh, JR, he rants on all of them. Also, I think the reason AEW gets so much shit from him is he expected more from it. I think he's disappointed that it's become WWE light mixed with a spot show. Also, compromise. Has Corny ever been keen on doing that? LMAO!
@darklydream23854 жыл бұрын
It is also the fact that Corny has said he cant stomach Raw or Smackdown. He can only get through NXT and AEW. That is why he only reviews those two shows. So he thinks that AEW is better than Raw and Smackdown.

@Ray Robinson Cornette has been snared by the mainstream media and it makes me sad and a little sick how vehement his hatred for Trump is when he doesn't know the whole story. I'll bet he wants the Nobel committee disbanded because Trump got nominated. Twice. He'd be an honest liberal if he gave credit where credit is due. As is, he's just another in a long list of people I used to respect so much more than I do now. TDS is real.

In my opinion the best announcing duo would be Jim Ross and Bobby Heenan. However Jim Ross and Cornette made a great combination as well. I never truly understood how much I paid attention to the wrestling commentary until JR's last day in WWE and first day with AEW. When I heard his voice it was like music to my ears.
