I am an addictions counselor at a MAT clinic and I am so glad that this topic was talked about. More education about the opioid epidemic needs to be discussed so that people can be better educated and to decrease the stigma of addictions.

I tried to detox off of heroin in June of 2019, unaware that what I’d been using for years was a mixture of heroin, fentanyl, and xylazine. It was a brutal nightmare, taking almost a full month (29 days) to be semi-functional again (detoxing off of heroin generally takes 5-7 days, comparatively). When Dr. Herzog started talking about xylazine around the 01:07:30 mark, I was dumbfounded. So many answers I didn’t know I was looking for explained in roughly one minute. Mind = blown. When I was detoxing, I literally felt like I was going to die, but I kept telling myself it was all in my head, just a few more days… I’m a ‘77 baby like Jim, and I hadn’t touched heroin since the 90s, so I thought maybe it was because I was in my forties, body’s less resilient, etc., but now after watching this, I realize I’m lucky to have survived. To top it off, July 25th is the day I annually celebrate my escape from heroin (four years today), so seeing this as the topic this morning gave me goosebumps! How apropos! Love you guys!!❤️❤️❤️❤

I was put on Suboxone back in 2008 by a doctor. Told I wld be on it for 3 mos, after 6 mos I asked when am I getting off this shit, and the doctor said never, u r a drug addict. By that point, my body was already addicted, and 15 yrs later I am still struggling to get off this shit. Suboxone sucks too. The best way is to not be on anything anymore, no substitute, nothing! U give me hope again

Curious, did you run any of those over the counter chemical tests on your stuff to make sure it didn't have nasties? If professional testing was a service you could use would you have used it? Australia has started drug testing clinics that will tell you if there's adulterants. It really kept dodgy cuts at bay, since dealers can't get away with selling bunk stuff.

@@Activemeasures2023 I didn’t, no. I’ve heard of drug-testing tents at music festivals, but I didn’t know you can buy them for home use, or at least I never thought to look. I was arrested, and the police ran a test on the baggies they found on me.

I've been on hydrocodone for years. One month there was an issue with my insurance and I ended up going through full withdrawal. It wasn't that bad. Mostly I slept a lot and had some stomach pain.

When I had appendicitis I recieved 2 doses of fentanyl and I didnt get high it just focused on the excruciating pain. Then when I was in my room and they could give me any more fentanyl they gave me morphine and the burning pain was there but I didnt care. You could have lit me on fire. Either way i hate opioids unless I'm in extreme pain

Hey producer man. You really should’ve asked the Doctor to use the audio from his airpods rather than his webcam. I can’t believe a “professional” can’t make a simple instruction to the guest. Surely you know audio at least a little bit?

@ctdieselnut
@ctdieselnut Жыл бұрын
@@emu_warrior its sensitive to people who are addicted/have quit, or family members. Why? Because it can totally ruin you or your families life, or kill you. The stakes dont get much higher than that. Usually, it's not discussed in public purely from a chemical or pharma perspective, removed from its human impact where there's no need for sympathy/empathy. Blaming the addicts is one thing, not understanding the plight of parents who have lost kids etc. is another. It's considered an epidemic in the us, have you not heard of this in the last 10 yrs?

according to rock lore, heroin was introduced to the UK by the New York Dolls who were touring. Chrissie Hynde was with them as a groupie and also using. She met and introduced Sid Vicious to the drug and it was popularised from there... dunno how true this is though lol. but it's a good story

Not making up any excuses, but he's probably like me where I have to interrupt people otherwise I forgot what I'm going to say~ I don't mean to be rude about it, I just hate when I forget what I'm going to say, especially if I feel it's important! Also, when you've been using substances your whole life that can have an effect on your brain too.
