Thank you, for this. The Carpenters were one of my wife's favorites. My wife passed away a year and a half ago. Listening to you sing reminds me so much of Karen Carpenter - it reminds me of my college days when she and I would sit and listen to the Carpenters. It brings a smile to my face as well as some tears to my eyes... some very happy tears.

Karen is smiling. So am I. I was 18 when the Carpenters music fired up the slow dancing at high schools everywhere. Guys and gals my age remember exactly what I'm talking about. Karen had the perfect voice IMHO. Miss Tori, you nailed it! The ensemble (bass, pianos, drums, strings, brass, winds and backing singers, etc.) gave this video close your eyes and listen perfection. What a fun, international project. Thank you!

Wow! It's the morning after a rough night. You have no idea how much I needed that. The very first time I heard Karen was on the radio in 1970 singing "Close to You." I had never heard such a beautiful voice. I can still remember exactly what I was doing. As much as you remind me of her, I can hear your own special, lovely voice coming through now too. It's absolutely wonderful! Thank you Tori and James and the whole band for doing such a sensational job!

Great job!! I was 12 when I first heard the Carpenter’s cover of the Beatles “Ticket to Ride” in 1969. Then “Close to You” came out in 1970..I was hooked and have been ever since!! Keep up the fantastic work. I think you have a bright future. RIP Karen

This is my favorite Carpenters song. Tori and everyone else absolutely nailed it. I have always thought the best voices in music were Ella Fitzgerald, Karen Carpenter, and Alison Krauss. I am adding Tori Holub to that list!!!

I am in Vegas and just saw the Carpenters Tribute show. It was entertaining but nothing compared to Tori and Jim. I could watch them over and over and never get tired of it. Tori has an amazing voice! James is as well so talented.

Sadly I agree with you. They put on a nice performance, but I was a bit disappointed. I could not look at the singer because I did not want to show my disappointment. As you know it's a small venue, fortunately I was able to enjoy the background visuals. I'm happy knowing this singer exists. I've loaded her Spotify songs into my library.

Thank you for noticing! I’ve been saying I can’t find Karen landing that note that way in this song. That was all Tori. Oh and BTW, she flatlined that note (D#4) all without pitch correction. She’s something to believe in. 😊

Since hearing this cover was in the works, I've been eagerly waiting for this, and it is well worth the wait! It's marvelously (and painstakingly) done, and it is such a fantastic way to gain a greater appreciation of the musical magic that the Carpenters created with their arrangements. I just now watched it for the first time, and I'm strangely overcome with emotion. Yes, Tori has her own voice, but it has a lot of similar qualities to that of Karen Carpenter. Tori is a wonder and so delightfully gifted. And, James, sir, my hat's off to you for your singing, playing and all your work putting together both the music (coming from different parts of the world) and this composite video. I thought this might be disappointing but how utterly wrong I was. A wonderful voice, like Karen Carpenter's but also Tori's own sound at the same time. I was transfixed and there's no question that modern recordings are much more compelling to listen to. In fact, if enything, Tori's version has a richness and depth the recording techniques couldn't bring out in 1970. Thanks for recording and uploading.
