11:40 Daryl Morey was not the Sixers GM that gave Tobias Harris the bag over Jimmy Butler. Daryl Morey joined the team in 2020. Jimmy Butler was traded to Miami in 2019.

I was thinking the same thing
@luischavez12606 ай бұрын
Elton Brand was the one that gave Tobias that contract

Yup. This was Elton but really he was just a yes man for ownership. The video did not talk about how they wanted Tobias over Butler because of character and control.

It was brand who didn’t resign him. Brand resigned Tobias Harris. Morty came in after.

You are correct
@David-iv6je6 ай бұрын
*Morey. And yes, it was Brand. I'd guess Morey would know better, but God help the Sixers if Jimmy had been there when the Simmons meltdown happened. He has zero tolerance for anything but top to bottom maximal effort, maybe to a fault.

Embiid could’ve used Jimmy, maybe he would stop choking in the playoffs
@gobot5816 ай бұрын
@@David-iv6jeLol are you saying that situation could of been worse? I think that went as bad as it could off Jimmy could of only helped or at least bullied him into leaving when he still had more value.
@David-iv6je6 ай бұрын
@@gobot581 Oddly enough, yes. Butler left end of 18-19 and Simmons' playoff meltdown was end of 20-21. We don't know what SImmons was like (or Embiid for that matter), but that's two seasons of a All Star All-Defense 1st team SImmons that Butler could have either extended or made melt down earlier. I suspect the latter. Butler seems to have zero patience for guys and franchises who don't give it their all> He's in the perfect place that doesn't coddle players.

One of the funny things is that the Wolves offered Butler the max extension they could offer at the time. It was in Butler's best interest to reject that extension because he could make more money with a new max in free agency then he could with an early extension. Old CBA rules had stricter limits on the max extension teams could offer a player a year early and Jimmy had signed his deal with the Bulls (prior to the current TV deal) and before max contracts really started exploding in value. Either Jimmy didn't understand the CBA rules (doubtful) or he just wanted to make as big a scene as possible before his interview with Rachel Nichols.

I think it's the agent's job to be knowledgeable of the CBA rules. I don't know whether Jimmy understood that one bit.

@@tapio_m6861 the CBA is always complicated, but I tend to expect the players to have a good understanding of the specifics on what gets them paid. Butler is a smart guy, I think he understood the rule, he just didn’t think he could win in MN.

When I first started following this channel years ago, the voices of Seth and Clara were the main factor. Another was the diverse content (Beef History, The Worst, The Collapse, Sports Ball etc.)To me, their narration style was akin to an EmpLemon, captivating. The way in which they used their language skills drew in your attention. This new shift is a postive for the channel, I'm truly happy that people have found their top job and are getting paid. It's just the shift away from the original format just doesn't feel the same. What used to be a unique sports commentary channel is now a shadow of itself.
