He's the kind of guy you could fish with for a day. After that on the drive to fish again eventually politics (climate change, logging, dam removal, etc.) would come up and that would be the end, since people of this tribe never admit they are wrong. Unfortunately, I have experienced this - took longer sometimes but eventually the differences overwhelm. Never heard one of them say the guide industry is the biggest killer of the sport, or that the best fisheries are often behind a dam.
