When I was a kid in the late 70's, I was walking through a redwood park and randomly came upon a small outdoor amphitheatre where Rick Springfield was playing, right before he got famous. I didn't even know who he was until a month or so later. Even though I wasn't into that style, I could see he and the band were really good. So I stayed for the show and as a guitarist learned what I could; in particular about playing and performing well at the same time.
