Here's the thing - he was a psychopath. He was not crazy. He was very calculating, very controlling, glib, manipulative and could manifest any behaviour he wanted to. So he could basically control the way others viewed him, at least to some degree. Most of all, he had an insatiable lust for power. Far from crazy, he had a very good control over his behaviour. Put simply: He knew what he was doing was wrong. That's why he did it.

I agree. I think Savile could write the textbook. I just watched the Netflix doc on him and it seemed he did a very good job quashing and punishing anyone who tried to out him with his cutthroat lawyer. This seemed to scare people sufficiently to watch what they said. Then having the police in one jurisdiction just not follow through on a complaint made against him was criminal. The guy was a smarmy master manipulator and sociopathic criminal who ran his sexually abusive scam for a long time and traumatized a lot of people. On top of it was seen as a selfless hero because of all his charity work and volunteering. The truth is stranger than fiction.

I think that people with certain sensitivities can not only tell that there is something weird about creepy perpetrators, whether they are conscious of it or not. I also believe that there is a strange phenomenon that such people have to blurt out things about such people, only to find out they were spot on, later on. Seth Macfarlane and Johnny might have this knack or curse as such a thing does exist. There are also things a person can pick up by just being privy to seeing a person’s behavior when they are aware that others are watching, but not necessarily the whole world is.

As an American, I've been following the Savile saga for quite a few years now. You guys have an independent film maker (sorry, I don't remember the guy's name, but I believe he also did some documentaries on child trafficking and the Isle of Wight) who theorized -- with quite a bit of startling, circumstantial evidence -- that Savile was involved in the Yorkshire Ripper's crimes. If true, that would NOT surprise me. BTW, has anybody else ever noticed that Savile's name contains both "evil" and "vile" within it? I always found that more than a bit strange, but never heard anybody else comment on it. That leaves me wondering, was "Savile" his real name? I somehow doubt it. And, of course, that would make his choice of surname purposeful. These people just can't help sticking it in our faces and shoving it down our throats. Time to return the favor.

@@cplcabs You are absolutely right. My mom was the one who inspired me to look into the bbc because she gets into all the internet detective stuff but as soon as she found out about them protecting a pedophile, she turned off our payment to have the bbc as one of our channels. Its just one household out of millions but everything begins small. I hope someday we see meaningful change. Be well, man.

Basil Brush was at the BBC all through the seventies, he must have known something.

I wonder if Bungle, George and Zippy were in on it too, and all the members of the Magic Roundabout should be investigate as well.

If I had been in charge of putting this piece together, I would have thought a ‘chart rundown’ of facts regarding the Savile scandal was belittling the subject somewhat.

When I was a child in the early/mid 80’s, adults would say to me that “children should be seen and not heard”. Unfortunately, this would have been a quote typical of monsters like Savile. So much for the “good old days”.

So much for the whole "Auntie" image. The BBC completely failed *not* just their victims, but their whole licence fee payers by protecting this man. *How could they have known nothing?*

They knew for sure and they know of other wrong doings such as Martin Bashir and Diana and Martin Bashir and losing a dead babies clothes. The BBC are a nasty organisation and it is why I stopped paying the licence fee and I encourage others to stop paying as well.
