About 15 years ago, my wife and I were in Rochester, NY to see Jeff Bates perform later that afternoon, and we popped into a radio station lobby for a flyer or souvenir, or maybe even to meet Jeff Bates. Well, they apparently thought we were there for a meeting with another celebrity, namely Jim Kelly, the Buffalo Bills quarterback, who was supposed to show up. We didn't know that and neither of us are football fans anyway. Well at one point they ushered us into a conference room with a nice spread of food, but walking down the hall, we saw Jeff in a small studio giving an interview and playing one of his songs. Once in the conference room, shortly after comes in Jim Kelly, Jeff Bates, and Jimmy Wayne. We got some pics, pretended like we were supposed to be there, and chit chatted a little, and jimmy breaks out his guitar, sits partially on a table, and plays this song for us. The room was dead quiet except for Jimmy's playing and singing. I've been to many concerts over the decades, of a wide variety of artists from the early 70's on up. But this one "concert" in a little radio station conference room in Rochester, NY was the best I'd ever attended. He gave it serious attention and He. Sounded. Awesome. His talent lit up the room. If you ever read this, Jimmy, thank you for that gift.

He is an amazing person! He was in foster care in Gaston county and had my favorite social worker... I have listened to his story and it breaks my heart I have went through the same things he has and so I look up to him I had the opportunity to see him perform at my school and I loved it. He made me cry... He said a lot of things that I felt like he was directing towards me. I Love You Jimmy Wayne!!!

It is extremely rare that I actually like a cover better than the original but this is one of those rare times. I fell in love with this version the first time I heard Jimmy Wayne sing it. What a voice! Not that Daryl Hall's voice isn't amazing but Jimmy's version definitely pays an appropriate homage to Mr. Hall. Love Jimmy's wail starting at 2:55. The song is simply incredible.

I agree totally. Apart from some people who complained about him putting his hand up to his ear. They very likely don't know anything about how singers tune their voices when there is a lot of background music especially. The guy on the fiddle is a real maestro. He apparently plays more than a dozen instruments.

Don't say that Jimmy survived a horrific childhood one that a lot of kids don't and you ask where was God? He was right next to him quietly guiding him. You may not think he did but Jimmy is the first one to tell you that and every show my friend and I went to he said that. He's here and he's alive and he's helping other foster kids that were just like him.He's an advocate out there for all those kids out there that are growing up in the same conditions that he did only he is giving them a voice something that he himself didn't have growing up because too many adults looked at him and automatically dismissed him as being a trouble maker when all he ever wanted was someone to be there for him and love him. Jimmy is a very special young man.

This is an amazing performance of one of the most beautiful songs ever written. You have done some truly great work here. Your voice is so soulful and emotional. As a 59 year old man who was there when Hall and Oates first released this song (and fell completely in love with its hypnoticly smooth, enticing melody), I am in awe of you for not only doing justice to this remake, but giving it a newness that I never thought could happen. Amen Sister. I am NOT a country fan (not that there's anything wrong with that), but I find Jimmy Wayne hot as hell and he is SO perfect in this song it often brings me to tears. Wow! What a beautiful voice. I remember hearing him on the Bob and Sheri radio show before his recording career. I didn't realize what he could do with his voice though. He has more ability than probably any other country western singer. And, no one has a bigger heart. I wonder what he's doing these days since I noticed he hasn't released anything lately. I don't usually listen to CW music, but this cover was better than the original. Jimmy Wayne, maybe you can do what Taylor Swift did and cross over. With that voice, you could do anything.
