Thank you for sharing. It's interesting that the stage of childhood you mentioned as being particularly vulnerable to recent reincarnation -type experiences happens to overlap with the exact stage where children's brain-wave states are primarily subconscious. Is it possible that they are just more open to suggestions or communication from spirits? Being primarily ego-centric, they may also assume that any thoughts, feelings, or memories communicated to them are "mine/me". Not sure how that could be ruled out?
@JustErics101 Жыл бұрын
It could also be that the memories they have of a previous life are memories that are in the “souls” own subconscious, granting them access. This is what Jim Matlock (another researcher) suggests. Also the singular focus on a particular previous identity rather than multiple souls in these cases lines up closer to reincarnation IMO. I don’t know however, in parapsychology it can be hard to differentiate psi from Survival evidence.

I had memories as a kid up untill 7 that I worked at an Ice House. I even told my dad where it was. The place I decribed was an old brewery that went out of business during Prohibition. I found out when I was an adult that they had an Ice House on the property. I wish I could remember what I told my dad. He did not remember much. He did say I named some of my friends I worked with. He said it was just my wild imagination. I actually live less than half mile from the brick walls of the brewery. There are 3 walls about 6ft high still standing and one has an arch. Your story of your childhood brought back a funny memory. I remember seeing shows about reincarnation as a kid. I told my parents that I thought it was funny that everyone was someone famous in their past life. Why wasn't anyone a slave or a Joe Schmo? I began a joke that I was a cow in my past life, and I ended up as a hamburger at McDonald's. The joke went on for quite a while. I remember even getting a birthday cake with a cow on it saying, "here's too a better life this time around."

As a Catholic I don’t believe in reincarnation in reality, but I do find it a neat idea in stories, especially tragic cases such as lovers who didn’t get a chance to develop a relationship before their first deaths or characters who experienced immense hardship in their first life. In an anime/manga (cartoons and comics from Japan, respectively, for those who may not know) I’m watching and read, two characters died during a battle and promised to find each other if they’re reborn around the same time. An epilogue flashing forward about 4 or so generations in the manga shows them doing just that, along with other ‘modern’ incarnations of some of the characters going about their day. Legit teared up at a few as the characters died pretty tragically and it was nice to see them smile without the weight of the world on their shoulders. Especially the young couple who end up running a restaurant together 😄 Makes me wonder if the tragic cases are more likely to happen because the soul wants another chance at a better life. Which then makes me wonder if there are way more benign cases of reincarnation that never manifest because the soul doesn’t register much difference between its old life and the new, so just lays dormant in a person until they eventually fade back into the spiritual world. 🤔

I have one foot in the reincarnation camp and another foot in the skeptic camp. I suppose I feel this way because there is no way to prove or disprove reincarnation. From a spiritual standpoint, reincarnation makes so much sense as it gives the soul a chance to have more experiences to help the soul evolve. From a science standpoint, it is too difficult to prove. I have been told that as a young child, I used to tell people all about a previous life I had when I “was grown up.” I used to tell people I was an artist. I really don’t remember this but a friend of my mother’s and my stepfather used to tease me about this. I vaguely, vaguely remember believing I had been a teenager/young adult in another life. Who knows if it was my imagination or real.

@@TheProdigalMeowMeowMeowReturns When multiple people see the same ghost, for instance, it strains credulity to say they both at the same time were seeing dissociated forms of psychic information or what have you, especially if the sighting is just a sighting with no special info given. For instance, say multiple people see a ghost running down a hallway and then disappear, and that's it. It would seem strained to say it is super psi. There are alternative explanations that would more readily explain such a phenomenon without feeling as strained (though they may still be ad hoc) like that places "record" energy somehow and "plays" the footage back every now and then. Or that there is some sort of time fold thing where you briefly can see the same location at a different point in time, or something. Or, of course, survivorship. Even Braude himself ultimately puts more stock in the survivorship hypothesis, though he thinks super psi should be taken seriously as a counter explanation I am sure we can think of alternative ways of describing all sorts of phenomena but if it gets strained and ad hoc then maybe we shouldn't insist on it
@TheProdigalMeowMeowMeowReturns Жыл бұрын
@@1001011011010 Can you clarify, precisely, why survival is more likely overall than LAP? In the case of multiple witnesses, why can’t the explanation be telepathy between living people? Perhaps mixed with living agent PK? Before you object, may I suggest the following?… If the survivalist view is correct, then we *still* need to posit telepathy and /or PK between *multiple* persons. Why? Because the spirit -if there IS a spirit- would then be using ESP and or PK in order to communicate with those witnesses. Sounds good to me, but if we grant refined widespread ESP and /or PK between the dead and the living, then why not between the living and the living?

I have to wonder if the statistics of reincarnation from a higher caste are skewed by the fact that those cases are both more noticable and more problematic. A wealthy kid who has an innate understanding of some kind of peasant labor and eats with the lower class might be seen more as eccentric rather than reported as a possible CORT case. Also, people who experience a past life that harmonizes well with their own life might slip by unnoticed.

Some of the strongest evidence ever brought forth on the reality of reincarnation (not involving hypnosis). Birthmarks, scars, and photographic evidence. A Civil War general’s reincarnation, plus a great story of a young boy, 9/11 and the reincarnation of a New York City fire lieutenant who perished in The North Tower. The full story as told by the boy's mother on (and off) a popular Reincarnation Forum starting in 2007 up to the present day. The books full title, Fire in the Soul: Reincarnation from Antietam to Ground Zero. The author is Jeffrey Keene a retired Asst. Fire Chief. PS: My case was discussed in James Matlock’s book, Signs of Reincarnation
@nebolevar3583 Жыл бұрын
This is a good example of a case where the faith section completely invalidates the supernatural explantations of these cases. It's obvious from the Catholic perspective (aka reality) that there is no reincarnation. The question then shifts to the reason perspective: assuming these aren't all hoaxes (some well might be, some not), what explains them? It seems likely that there are multiple explanations for different cases.
@JustErics101 Жыл бұрын
It doesn’t and it isn’t obvious. Reincarnation is a totally viable explanation for many of the cases, maybe not all though. It could be psi or it could be genuine reincarnation, and maybe even a mixture where some cases are psi and some are reincarnation.

Yeah, before you introduced the replacement case I was thinking maybe God sometimes allows dead spirits to temporarily/partially unite with the bodies of other people (similar to demon possession). These cases would support the notion of the personal, immaterial soul and the body as a transceiver. Maybe higher caste people and men tend to be more aggressive/ambitious and thus tend to try to invade another's body more often and to avoid crossing over.
